Tunica, Mississippi

Post by MikeA »

There is a pretty good chance that I might be able to spread a few coins in the Tunica Casinos in early July.  Does anyone here have any recomendations as to good VP and BJ play.  Seems to me that I've read that in Mississippi it is against the law for Casinos to offer gamess that provide a potential for 100% or higher returns.

Mike, I have had several friends ask me about Tunica and I always tell them that the coast is just four hours away. Mississippi coast casinos are much better than Tunica, even with all of the hurricane destruction considered. The whole Tunica atmosphere rubs me wrong -- sullen employees, bad pay tables, nasty casinos, way the hell out in the middle of no where....I could go on and on.

Mike, in terms of return, some of my best jackpots were on the Mississippi Coast.

I do appreciate the reply Rascal, but this trip has to be Tunica or nothing.  It has to do with the logistics of my relatives down in and around Little Rock.  Going on over to Tunica is possible but a visit to the Gulf would be a bit too far out of the way.

A few years ago the wife and I made a number of trips to Tunica. We stayed at  what was then Harrahs. At that time they had some interesting and profitable $1.00 macines near the high limit area that offered progressives on , (as I rember) 4 Aces and 2s,3s&4s. It was also home to one of my , in a long line of, blunders. I had one coin in a $5.00 machine , when of course I hit a Royal.

They also have a great golf course next to them if you are so inclined.

Good Luck.

I play in Tunica all the time.  The best paybacks you will find will be around 99%.  The Grand has 9/6 JOB, and 8/5 Aces and Faces, and 9/7 Double Aces and Faces,  9/7 Double Bonus, but only in denominations at $1 and up.  The Sheraton has similar paytables.  You might check also at www.tunicav-p.com
The comps are easy to come by, I find most of the staff to be friendly, and there is a comfortable atmosphere, to me.  There is an outlet mall close by, and Memphis is a short drive away with many things to see and do.
Hope this helps.

I play alot of jacks or better and double bonus, The sheraton may be the best kept secret.

Sounds like you had a good trip and thats great but what makes the winning potential in Tunica any different than than other places?

I've been there a few times but its been several years ago and it was before I started playing video poker. Whats thier secret???? I play at the Grand Casino but if they keep moving the VP machines around I'll be looking for somewhere else to play. I don't mind changes but they have gotten to the point to where the VP machines are shoved all the way down on the north-end of the casino. The last time I was there I had to go looking for a waitress so I could get a drink and when I had a ticket jam in the machine I waited several minutes thinking a attendent would show up but ended up having to go find one. It almost seems like the Grand would prefer not to have VP.

How is the $1.00 VP at Sheraton? I did go to Fitgerald's and hated everything about the place. They still had coins and the music was so loud I could'nt hear myself think.
