Blue Chip Casino

Post by Tony Felder »

Heading to the Blue Chip in Michigan CIty Indiana this weekend. We have been there a few times but have not had much success. Room is comp'd and meeting family so it will be fun. This is a Boyd's Gaming casino, wondering if anyone has been there and how it has treated them.

Its a very clean nice casino. Paytables are rough though.

I have family in NW Indiana, so they have been up there a few times, along with the Four Winds. I, personally, don't care for either.

Hi Tony, we have never had any luck at the Blue Chip.  We thought maybe it would be looser than 4 Winds since it's part of the Boyd group, but that hasn't been our experience.  The 4 Winds is pretty tight too although we've had a royal flush there on more than one trip.  The Blue Chip has never offered any comps (while Sams and the Orleans treat us very well).  So we always stay and play at 4 Winds.  We may not win a lot there, but they make us feel like high rollers with a beautiful suite each time we visit.  Have you found the Heston Supper Club nearby? Where ever you end up, good luck!  The bar is probably the safest bet.

Hi Frog, seems like a common thread here about the Blue Chip. We do play at 4 Winds but rooms are pricey without comps, whereas Blue Chip comp's us the room. Never heard of Heston Supper Club, is it close to Blue Chip? is it good?

Tony, I agree, rooms are pricy at 4Winds, we wouldn't stay unless it's comped.  We would stay at Blue Chip if our rooms were free too.  The hotel looks beautiful.  Neither casino seems very lucky, but it's fun entertainment when the stay is free. The Heston Supper Club is in Laporte IN.   It's tucked a few miles down a narrow country road but well worth the trip.  (I'd guess about a 10 min drive from 4Winds).  Honestly, the best prime rib we'ver ever had.  Prices are good, Portions are very large, and the meal starts with their "win shuler" like cheese and crackers.   They have a website if you're interested.   Best of luck at the casino!

I live in Wisconsin so Blue Chip is a great "NON INDIAN" casino close enough to drive to.  It is a Boyd casino so points go towards the Bconnected Slot Club.  This is a very nice yet small casino which caters to locals.  I was told by a casino host that it is considered a non destination casino (such as Vegas or Tunica would be).  That being said, we have always gotten comp rooms, food.  The rooms are very nice. Now about VP.  The payout is NOT GOOD>  I consider myself a good player and I can't hit anything. BP 7/5 even on $1 machines, very few nickles.  The last time my husband and I were there we started playing slots- it was a HOOT!!  And we made money-don't ask me HOW I can never figure out the Lines  X Coins thing.   It is very close to Indian Dunes National  Lakeshore.  Have fun

Wow, Michigan City is a LONG way to drive from Wisc. You would go near two Caesars/Harrahs properties on the way - Harrahs Joliet and Horseshoe Hammond. Both have a nice mix of VP machines.

We were at the Blue Chip this past Sunday and Monday for a slot tourney the wife was in. Hit a .25 Royal within the first couple of hours but then absolutely nothing for the next 2 days. Was lucky enough to play on that money for most of the time but still lost a bit. The VP was not going good for most people that I saw playing. We like the hotel and casino but agree with most on here that the VP is just not that good!
