Another annoyance that might make me move is when someone is hitting BET MAX every hand and it goes ding ding ding ding ding.I understand why they do it, but it drives me absolutely nuts.

scoot,
Welcome to the forum. I will play a machine a long time switching games, or pace, turbo/no turbo, going to the bathroom, to change my pace if my timing is bad. Another factor is my mental frame - if I consciously begin to think negative I may change machines just to change my mental frame from negative to positive. When my mental frame goes negative or I get tired I make more mistakes.

If I am playing 25 cent games, I will never start with less than $100 for a game like Bonus Poker or even plain ol' JOB (progressive jackpots though).  If I choose something like Double Bonus Poker, or even Triple Bonus Poker, I start with $200 or more (for obvious reasons). SIDEBAR -- At the Atlantic city Hilton (now called the Atlantic club) they had Triple Bonus Poker games where the pay was 11 for a full house and 7 for a flush (thats a max credit payoff of 55 and 35 respectively!) and of course, it had the payoff of 375 for quads 5-K, 600 for 2,3 or 4, and the biggie, 1200 for quad aces!  The challenge of course is it only pays on Kings or better and the two pair pay is the same as Kings or better.   Atlantic club/hilton was the ONLY place I know off that had this paytable for triple bonus in all of AC.  But in the last month, the ATlantic club has instituted a new marketing strategy which has involved elminating 80% or more of ALL Video Poker machines!!!  Fuggin' A sucks and is scary! (-- end SIDEBAR) I change machines all the time when I hit a cold one, often simply moving one seat over....and in my experience it works far more often than not, no rhyme or reason why, it just does.   As much as we all like to profess our "professionalism" at playing video poker by adhering to the mathematically correct course and odds, a lot of this game is in our "gut" and pure and simple timing/luck.  Jumping from machine to machine is my testament to "gut" and luck.

DaBurgler when were you there last? I ask this because we got a letter from them a couple of weeks ago that said "We have heard you and have put back your favorite machines".

faygo:   I was last at the atlantic club the first week of this April (about 3-1/2 weeks ago) so i dunno if or what the letter you received was in response to....all I know is that when I was last there (like April 6) they had completely tore up and removed ALL the vid poker machines in the section nearest the boardwalk entrance, as well as removed a substantial number of the vid poker machines on the other side of the casino near the street (pacific avenue) entrance....go figure. Their new marketing strategy (if you can call it a strategy) is clearly a desperation last gasp attempt that, imho, isnt going to pan out.   The place, sadly, has been a ghost town the past year, even on friday/saturday nights.   I sent the CEO, Michael Frawley, an e-mail thru their website with several ideas I had that should help them at least stay alive.....the biggest and most obvious Idea I told him was to ADVERTISE!!!   i live in New england, and while I see advertisements all the time for foxwoods/mohegan, and of course Vegas, I never NEVER NEVER ever see ads for Atlantic city, and specifically, the atlantic club!   I mean, we are only 5 hours away by bus (less if you are in Connecticut) and greyhound offers the a 60 dollar roundtrip fare WITH a casino bonus usually worth 25 or 30 bucks INSIDE the casinos...so wtf????  Why dont they advertise???  I know for a fact people up here are very tired of the crappy state of affairs in Fox woods and Mohegan!

Thanks for the info DaBurgler. I checked and the letter didn't have a date on it? Guess we will follow our host to Harrahs. Maybe going from the frying pan into the fire.
