Where to Stay?

Post by flamingomom »

Help, please.  Hubby and I are heading to LV in early June.  Last few years we've stayed at Bally's because of getting at least a few free nights.  There's nothing available to us in June as far as free nights are concerned.  We're not big spenders when we hit the local casinos here in Chicago area and, since we're putting our son through college, we don't get to go as often as we used to.  Hence, our TR account is not exactly big time.

Anyway, we're looking for a recommendation regarding a relatively reasonably priced casino on the strip with modern rooms, decent restaurants, good VP, etc.  Any help or suggestions you might offer will be greatly appreciated.

Reasonably priced, Strip hotel and good VP don't really go hand in hand, unfortunately ... if you can go a little off Strip I'd recommend the Palms, where you can probably find decent room rates and they have some of the best VP close to the Strip. I always stay at either Bally's, Harrah's or Planet Hollywood (all Caesars properties) since I get comped there. None of them have more than just decent VP.

If its the strip area I'd recommend the Palms as well since they had decent pay returns. Some people recommend the downtown area like the Golden Nuggett where good pay tables are still offered but we haven't stayed there. You can cheaply shuttle using the "Deuce" from downtown to the strip.

If you don't need the strip area go out to Red Rock. Some of the best rooms, great amenities and some of the best odds in Vegas. You can shuttle from the airport, take a shuttle from the Red Rock complex (shopping center across the street) back to the strip for a day trip. Contact a RR host like Esther who several of us use or contact marketing directly to check out the deals they can work out with you. I bet you wont be disappointed in the rooms or casino or pool facilities..

Good Luck, hit a few royals and post them upon your return so we can share your enjoyment.

We have enjoyed our stays at Paris, our home away from home. We have also been pleased with all the other casinos where we have stayed in Vegas. I have heard forever to ask for "CASINO RATES" when you ask about a room when not comped. GL and report back to us!

My sis always stays at the Mirage and gets a good rate and they just go once a year so you might try that..Also call ahead and ask to speak to a Casino host and maybe they will give you the casino rate...I think they have the authority to offer deals where the reservation operator doesn't. If you do decide to stay away from the crowds consider Green Valley Ranch. It's a bit closer than Red Rock and also has a shuttle to the strip..Very good food and it has a connected shopping area called the District. You can check the place out on their web site. They are just a very short distance from South Point which seems to be a popular place. It would be a short cab ride..Have fun, eat well and stay cool...

Not sure where you play in Chicago, but if it is Joliet or Horseshoe Hammond, talk to a host there and see if maybe then can get you a deal in Vegas. All they can say is no.

The Tuscany is about 2 blocks from the back door of Ballys. If you like that area you should give them a call. It's usually pretty easy to get a room comped based on only moderate play. The restaurants are just so-so, but the rooms are large.

Downtown try Main Street. Lots of decent 25cent games, good food, great brewery and once you establish some points on the player's card you will get mailings with at least 3 free nights per month. I used to stay at the Golden Nugget got over charged poor service and lousy pay tables.
