Hollywood Casino Kansas Speedway

Post by kjohn »

Just got back from an overnight in Kansas City .We stayed at the Argosy overnight and headed to the new Hollywood Casino the next day on our way out of town. I don’t know how many people on this site live in that area but for what it’s worth this was my take on the place.

It’s a beautiful property with no smoke smell and well spaced machines. As with a lot of state casinos the VP machines are all located in one area and not as plentiful and one would find in Vegas. Even saying that we found enough machines to keep us playing. Almost all the machines were the multi-game variety. The signage above the machines was a bit confusing as it might say DDB on a bank of machines when actually the machines offered all kinds of game options.

As for pay tables, they were mostly 9/5, at least on the DDB which I played the most. The machines were sparkling clean and the chairs very comfortable. I only found one bank of Triple play with only 4 machines. All the other triple play were “multiplier” type games. That was somewhat disappointing. I didn’t win anything but my friend hit a royal playing JOB so she was a happy lady. I would recommend it for a short outing but if you planned on an entire day you might get bored with the limited selection of machines, unless you like Ultimate X and Super times play.

The reviews on other sites are mixed. Seems a lot of complaints regarding waiting for food and drink service, but we were there on a Thurs and the place was almost deserted so we didn’t have that problem. I would imagine when they have a crowd at the speedway it might be a different story. The Casino is owned by the Argosy so one card works for both places.

Oh, one more thing that I didn’t like was no progressive machines. I didn’t check at the bar so maybe that group is different. We were only there for 4 hours and that was plenty for me. If you’ve been there I’d be interested in your thoughts. I might have missed something.
