Trip Report Tajmahal

Post by BOOPSAHOY »

Hi everyone. Hubby and I went to the Taj this weekend-Saturday till Sunday around 2PM. We got there later than usual due to a wreck that had us sitting for about an hour. Strangely enough I had no problem getting a smoking room with king bed (i usually do at 11AM this is now almost 12:30) i actually got a very nice room on the 50th floor which I think is concierge or something as u have to swipe your room card in the elevator to get the 5-0 to light up. I think I mentionned before new beds and great new large flat screen HD Tvs. Started out in nickel oasis instead of stp area as it is smoking allowed area. We wanted to relax after the long drive. the cocktail service then and all weekend in that area was attrocious. Sunday morning we didnt even see one from 9AM-11:30, and the Taj usually is real good about that.Got a lot of play from the 2 quarter game kings on joker poker. A few straiht flushes to keep us not dipping. Then we went out to play some STP but now it was getting late and we hadnt eaten so up to the room for roomsrvice and a movie. After the movie played some STP and couldnt do anything so back to the Joker machines where I hit a 5oak. Had a lot of fun and came back to the room with a small stake for Sunday morning. Had roomservice again, watched some subway series clips and another movie.  Sunday morning we lost our stake plus a little more. Not too bad except it will crimp our bankroll for next weekend-Sat-Sun-home monday. 2 days can be killer if you dont win/have a decent bankroll! SO this weekend they had play for a TV promotion from Friday (we werent there) till Sunday. We each qualified for the lowest amount to get one, so we will be getting 2 13"TVs in a few weeks. If we had played STP all weekend (and lost our shirts) we would ahve had some great choices but we dont play for comps although when I het for the least amount we both played hubbys card so he would too, then we both played mine to see if we could get the next up TV-didnt do it-oh well!! ANyway a fun weekend without too much damage and 2 tvs!!

PS Hope that wasnt too boring LOL
PPS Oh almost forgot-I played some double pay DW and DDB after enjoying it at this site but it ate my money quicker than a vacuum!

Barb,
Thank you for posting your trip report at the Taj , always enjoy reading your posts!   Sounds like you had a pretty nice time despite not doing too well.

I went and played poker last night and saw those TV's by the poker room.  They sure did look nice.  Some of those TV's were so big I wouldn't know where to fit them.. LOL

As for the cocktail service in the smoking area.. you are right, it is VERY bad now.  I was there last week and waited quite a long time to even see a waitress, then it took her a long time to come back.  There were a lot of unhappy people that day.

We're planning a trip for June 11th-14th to go to Taj.  My parents are coming from out of state and it will be their 1st trip to Taj.  It should be a good time.  Luckily I has a few great sessions of VP in the last month so I have a decent bankroll that will last me through those days (plus a few nice sessions of poker that will help as well..)

You had mentioned that you used your hubby's card and he had used yours.. I'll tell ya, that makes quite a difference in what you get from the casino.  My fiance started using my card on our trips and we seem to get a lot more stuff from Taj since we started doing that.

BTW, saw someone hit the spin poker progressive about a week ago.  Was really neat to see someone actually hit that thing.  They were dealt the 5 aces for about $87,500.  It was in the smoking section at Taj on the last machine in the row.  Funny thing is that I overheard the lady that hit it say that it was only her second time playing spin poker and that she really doesn't even like the game.  The only reason she was playing is because her hubby was playing the machine next to her.. LOL

BOOPS: I'm glad you enjoyed your visit, but you explained exactly what video poker players should NOT do when going to a casino. Two 13" TV's? C'mon, no one watches those even in kitchens any more. That's why they were "giving" them away.

Did you go in with a plan whereas you'd stop the moment you attained your goal--win or lose? And you do know those AC Joker games aren't reasonable as far as expecting to win much of anything either in the short-term or the long-term, right?

Also, I noticed you were anxious to go back next weekend for more entertaining punishment. Have you ever thought of going on a non-gaming type trip such as a visit to Cooperstown or a drive through the beautiful Berkshires? If you have done so or are able to do so now without ever being irritated or bored at the thought that there's no machines around, then you truly are playing for entertainment.

Please stop smoking.

Boops: take a deep breath and think about things before you let the cork pop.
Now exhale. Count to ten. OK. Let it rip.
Cause I think we all can know what happens next.

Sound like fun, boops!!! I would love to win a TV even if it is smaller than bubba would approve of.

First of all I did not go because of the TVs. I would have gone even if there was nothing being given away. I was explaining how as long as we were playing why not both get a TV than only one of us getting it and having extra points that did nothing for us. We love our VP trips but we also love fishing and beaching. We feel that these trips to AC cost as much as a weekend in Montauk-eating out, fishing, and the expense of a room so whats the difference??? We get a comp room, gifts, and  food.At least there is a shot of winning "big" LOL We usually play DDB, but lately the JW have been very good to us. Much more 5oaks than Royals! I practise on VPFW all the time so I know the best plays on JW as well as DDB. Also I will quit smoking when I WANT not cause someone tells me to!Im sure everyone has a bad vice of some kind.....
PS thanks Eduardo, I see you understand that 2 free 13" tvs is better than none at all!
