Cherokee Trip

The wife and I just returned from a couple of days at the Cherokee Harras.  We were told it has just gone though a major upgrade and that they are suppose to have table games this fall.  We really enjoyed the experience.   We stayed in a Tower Mountain View room and it was more like a suite than a room.  Compared to Florida hotel rates, the cost was very reasonable.  The casino had tons of video poker machines and they all seemed to be well maintained.  The pay schedules were interesting to say the least.  I've never seen a casino with such a wide variety of pay tables.  You really have to pay attention to which machine you are playing, but if you look around you can find something decent.  I didn't see any 100% machines, but the pay schedules on the good machines were better than we have in Florida.  I played a lot of .25 DDB and hit a long string of 4-of-a-kinds the morning we left.  Got up about $300 and switched to $1 play.  Hit 4-3s with a kicker and all was good.   The people were nice and the service was great.  We will definitely go back to Cherokee. Wish it was closer to the house...

Room service? You should ask Buff, but she stays in the 'Rock Star" suite there, which I think includes a butler.
 
When I was there this month, the buffet wasn't even open for breakfast!!    Paula Dean's for breakfast - that's it..

Phil, I'm so glad you had a good experience in Cherokee.  Yes there's room service, and food is not too bad.  No butlers for me, they're called "suite attendants" lol.  Billy, best breakfast there is room service, in my opinion.  Or, breakfast items in the food court in the casino.  I'll starve before I eat at Paula Deen's restaurant.  It's way over-hyped

No argument here, Buff, regarding Paula Dean's. I am sorry to see them being put in most Harrah's restaurants around the country. The took out some pretty good restaurants. 
 
BTW, I like my 'suite attendants' to be female..

We only ate in the casino one night and we tried the Brio because my wife had been to the one in Orlando and she likes the food.  I didn't like the atmosphere, too noisy and coffee shop like for my taste, but the food was really good.  I would go there again. We thought about trying Ruth Chris, but we have had some bad experiences in their restaurants before.  I can see that the Cherokee Resort is a work in progress.  I'm sure when they get the table games rolling, it will change a lot.  It totally changed the Florida Hard Rocks for the better and allowed them to upgrade everything.

I love the ambiance of Brio, and think it's a beautifully done restaurant.   Maybe you ate there on a Saturday while there was a cash drawing right below in the rotunda?  Those get very loud and crowded. 
 
Table games are supposed to go live anytime now.  My husband is a big blackjack player there and has been told he'd be invited to the debut.  As it is now, there's only about a deck and a half penetration of the 6-deck shoe.  Hub is very excited to see them go to live cards and says he's gonna "take them like a rented mule."
 
Billy, the suite attendants are mostly female and they are very sweet.
