Planning A Trip To Tunica MS

Post by mdmick67 »

Planning our first trip ever to Tunica, MS. Probably staying there 4 or 5 days. Will be spending some time looking around Memphis and of course getting a lot of play time in on Video Poker. I'm hoping to get some good advice and input form some of the people here that have been there as of late.

We Travel in a 40' Bus/Motor home, from the input I have had so far it seems like the Casino with the best RV Park is Harrah's?

I understand that the number of VP machine at the casino's is getting limited?
I also understand that the pay tables have been screwed so tight that it's hard to even get a hand pay anymore?
So what are the best casino's in Tunica to play in right now?
Who has the best comps?
The best food for the dollars?

All comments would be appreciated

Hi mdmick67,

I would say Roadhouse for best pay tables
Gold Strike, Horseshoe and Harrah's for food
Not sure about the comps but last  time I was there didnt take that much play to get free buffet at Roadhouse. (Roadhouse, Horseshoe  and Harrah's same card)
Have fun and hoping you hit a RF or two.

Hi, I love Tunica, yes ,harrahs has best RV park, but have to take shuttle or drive up to casino Hollywood has the smallest park but nice place and you can walk right up to the door , used to be my favorite vp place, but not anymore, you cant do much with with pay tables at 6/5 amd 7/5. Sams town rv park Ive never stayed in .Had best vp luck at harrahs. Have a good time and if you are in Memphis, go to the Rendevous for ribs and barbecue, world famous. Have a good time and Happy Trails! We full-timed for 10 years and I miss it! Kati

Hi,

Tunica is my favorite too. I live about 3 hours away and go 2 - 3 times per month. VP has definitely tightened up in Tunica as it has in many markets. I agree that Roadhouse has a good variety with decent pay tables. I play a lot of VP at Gold Strike, too.

As far as comps you will find the Tunica market to be one the most liberal in the country! Food variety, quality, and prices are also good.

I concur for RV parking - Harrahs, though offsite, then Hollywood.

Headed to Gold Strike this weekend!

Safe travels and GOOD LUCK!

Robert

Harrah's has plenty of rv parking, for that matter if you arrive on weekday you could probably park anywhere you wish, it's like a ghost town there during the week. The buffet at Harrah's is fantastic, not cheap but very good food. For almost 15 years I went about once a week on average and played $2 denomination vp, loved the place and never lost a lot of money any of those years. I rarely go there anymore, it got unacceptable bad the past couple of years and the paytables had little to do with it, the hits just quit coming. I've went to everyone of the other casinos and Roadhouse has the best paytables all the rest have poor paytables for the higher denomination vp. Tunica vp ain't what it used to be so you shouldn't have any trouble finding a machine to play. Good luck, I hope you get some of the money I left down there.

In terms of paytables for traditional VP, the Roadhouse is the best by far.

99.96% APDW and 99.96% 10/6 DDB for quarters to dollars. Machines are always plentiful.

Their Super Times Pay games aren't as good unfortunately. The best STP game I've found was at Bally's Tunica, 98.91% "Illinois/LV Airport" Deuces for quarters. This becomes 99.19% including the STP wager.

If you're looking for an old school video poker feel and dirty hands, you can also play full-pay Jacks or Better at the Fitz for actual quarters.

Comps in Tunica are usually pretty generous if you ask for them and have been playing awhile. The Roadhouse even has a sign in the casino, if I recall correctly, promoting how they are willing to give good comps upon request.

I have never bothered to eat at the Roadhouse though. As far as buffets go, I've liked Gold Strike, Sam's Town, and Harrah's. Fitz isn't too bad either, especially if they are offering the buffet for $7, and their snack bar is a decent value as well.

Thank you  Vman96! I do appreciate all the good information. I will be checking out your suggestions. Right now we are planning our trip for sometime in mid October. Thinking of spending about 5 days in the area, checking out Memphis and of course getting in a lot of ply time.
