There are other casinos in Laughlin with much better VP than Harrahs. I believe the Aquarius Casino has the best VP in town. I stayed at Harrahs in October but never gambled there because of the tight paytables

Since Harrahs is providing our airfare, I imagine we will have to spend some minimum amount of time gambling in their casino?

That's certainly a good plan if you want to get invited back again. Frankly, I don't mind playing a game with a theoretical loss rate of slightly over 1% if the outcome is several invitations per year to fly my wife and myself, on a comped basis, to Laughlin for a mini getaway. We are going this weekend from Buffalo  (Mar2-6), and are scheduled again for some time in June.  I expect we will give them some play on the 5c 50 plays (deuces wild bonus, at 98.8%), and even more on triple/five play 25c deuces wild (98.91%).  I'm quite curious to see how the new total rewards point system works for us. As well, we will play some at the Golden Nugget and Aquarius, and at Seneca Niagara on the way home.

It probably would be somewhat in your interest to do so. Tables are better than CET properties in Vegas at least. 99.11% DB for as cheap as quarters. My mom also got this junket. No way she is going though...lol

Aquarius looks to have the widest selection of good games. Golden Nugget has a 100.35% Double Double Jackpot machine.

Playing at the quarter level in a casino other than the one that has just comped your airfare (and I presume room nights) over a short gaming trip, merely because you may get a THEORETICAL 1% increase in EV, makes no sense to me.

harrahs has unplayable games, take the free trip play at better places with better games, but realize the fact that you wont get another trip comped, i used to go on those about 6 years ago when they had 9/6 job at 25c level and 50 play 9/6 job 5c. i played alot of the 50 play 96job so i could run off alot of points keep the "diamond card" with 1-2 trips per year when 100k-coin in would keep diamond card expected value -445. played live poker at colorado belle or fpdw at colorado belle, on top of that i would go to lv get comped at rio, play 1 basline point at 85 job 8 hands $10 coin in just to keep my card active then play fpdw at palms, red rock or live poker. the $445 investment (-ev) yielded more in comps rooms food, then they finally downgraded that making it a losers game, czr CEO mr. loveman is the leader in killing vp and tier cards

harrahs has unplayable games,
I agree that the offerings at Harrah's Laughlin are not the best, but neither are they brutally awful.  As I indicated in my previous post, you can play a couple of different varieties of deuces wild there, at just under 99% return.  There is, as well, single line 9/7 double bonus at 25c and 50c.  Compared to what some people on this forum play, either by choice or because there's nothing better available, that is not all that bad. Still, the games by themselves are a losing proposition.  But, when I factor in the value of the trip packages that are offered to us, they don't look too bad at all. I would be quite interested in seeing your criteria for determining whether a game is playable or not.
