Re: Just in from vegas
California and found it relatively empty by comparison! Needless to say, I stayed and played there.Oh, Blue25, I've not been to Reno, but if you look around the forum I think you'll find comments about it and others on the forum have been there recently. I'm sure they'll chime in.Ed, I go to extremes on Fremont. For VP, I guess I'd say Main Street Station is about the best overall I found downtown. For blackjack, without doubt, it's El Cortez. But the two places are as far apart as you can go from each other and still be "Downtown". Everything else in between those two casinos.

Mike, strangely enough, I've done very little VP prowling downtown due to the fact that theres lots of "locals" casinos around Clark County. One of these trips, I'm gonna try and concentrate my play to Downtown as there is still a few positive return machines scattered about the various casinos there. Lots of history there too!(can you say Binions as in Benny?)

Yeah, Benion's is HISTORY! Complementary Drink practices started there way back when. They were the first to give drinks away to players. I love the atmosphere of Binion's and all the staff I've interacted with have been very pleasant. Unfortunately, I've not found either VP nor BJ there to my liking. Still a swing through there just might have you crossing paths with face that might seem familiar to you! I encountered Stanford Wong first playing Craps at Plaza. Then later in the week, saw him again playing Craps at Binion's. Neither place will allow him anywhere near their Blackjack tables unless they have a tournament going on and even then, will not allow him to sit in at a cash table!Hmm, my wife ran into Ed McMaon (Tonight Show sidekick) at Plaza. I played BJ at AmeriStar in KC at the same table with Billy Gibbons (guitarist with ZZ Top). I'm not much of a "celebrity hound."

Has anyone been to the Palazzo yet? My husband has a convention in LV in two weeks and we have reservations there. I love to play Super Times Pay. Does anyone know if they carry that game.

Just in from Vegas two nights ago. I spent 4 nights at the Treasure Island. I'd never stayed there before, so it was cool to try something different. Although I've been going to Vegas at least three times a year since the early 1970's, I usually stay in the same 3 places- The Hilton, The Trop and The Flamingo.
The big eye opener for me was The Wynn. I hope to stay there my next trip out.
I found and played 50 Play VP in the Treasure Island. Although I'm an avid VP player, I usually only play single hand dolar machines. I jumped on the 50 Play machine only because I play it so much here online. It was interesting to be playing for actual money this time. Would have been more interesting if I would have won!

A new book was just released either this week or last week. My wife ordered it and received one of the first copies I think. "Double or Nothing" by Tom Breitling, the story behind those two guys who bought the Golden Nugget down on Fremont St in Vegas.I haven't read it yet...will have to wait for Verna to finish it <sigh>.The GN is not one of my favorite haunts but it shore is a purtty place!
FYI log on to: http://www.tombreitling.com/ read book on line free until 4-14-2008, ETC.

For those who are waiting for me to finish the"Winner takes all" book, I'm little more than halfway. The Las Vegas Advisor had a"question of the day feature for Gary Loveman, one of the 3 main characters in the book. If you can't wait, go to the Las Vegas Advisor and look under the QoD archives for April 10 for a brief summary of what I have yet to read! Those guys sit around an office all day so not too hard to find the time to read a book. Throw in no family or no social life and you can read a 1,000 page book in a week!

I'm almost finished but I could not word a summary any better for what I've interpreted from this book.Interesting reading about land sharks and power barons, animosity and love/hate.WHEW!
