larry..i have been to foxwoods 3 or 4 times...my primary play is at mohegan....mohegan is much easier to navigate..park in the riverview garage(5 floors)and elevator down lets u out at casino entrance..if u are a nickle player the non smoking section has a bank of 4 nickle machines...you will be in the sky/wind casino area...plenty of slant top and upright machines..those are usually .25/1$ machines...watch out for sticking and non functioning buttons as they do no maintainence at all on the machines...after checking the paytables you should look just above the screen and look for metal plate that says"this machine does not award player club points...i estimate 1/2 the machines in the sky/wind casino do not award points(but since u gotta cycle app 400 thru for 1 pt it really wont matter)the paytables are normally much better on machines that dont award points but as da burglar said it does sometimes pay to look around....once youve had enough of the sky/wind casino you can exit(follow the crowd past the crap tables and the ben and jerrys) and make your way over to what i call "the dark side" which is the old casino(earth)it is definetly darker in the old casino..plenty of machines on both sides to keep you in action...everything from pick-em to double down stud to 3/5/10 play to multistrike to ultimate x....on the dark side there is a bank of 6 build a wheel in .5/.25 level......the only game they dont have is tdb in single line.....also while on the dark side you might want to try pepes pizza.....whatever you get order it cooked well....add some foxon park birch beer and you will be a happy camper.....one of the major differences between foxwood and mohegan is almost all foxwood machines have a 5 coin limit.....almost all machines(single line) at mohegan have a 25 coin limit.....be careful at mohegan after you put in your $ that machine is set to desired credits u wanna play ..in closing i will say machines at both places are really tight....i have dropped off significantly in my play as i got kinda tires of getting beat up all the time...most 4 of a kinds come on 5 card redraws or on the deal.....i could tell u loads more especially regarding mohegan but ive gone on long enuf for now.....enjoy your visit and i hope your at the right machine at the right time

Thanks for the great info.

8 awesome days in Boston and Cape Cod- great meals and wonderful weather. Called whale company for report Monday upon arrival at Cape, were told they only saw 1 whale on Monday. Knowing our luck on such excursions we told them Tuesday would be great! Sure enough -(2 right whales and 11-12 hump backs feeding next to the boat + minke for over an hour) everyone was excited. But, now nine days w/out VP we are going crazy.

We leave Fri for Mystic and Foxwoods/Mohican Sun. BUT,.... It is suppose to start raining Wed pm and all day Thur....we could checkout early Thur and drive to FW/MS and play a day earlier. There is only so much to do on rainy day in a cottage.

Really if the rain begins Wed.....heck we could leave Wed (safer driving) and have two extra days

Let you know which of Maslow's hierarchy of needs wins out!!!!

Back from our first trip to Boston/Cape Cod/Mystic.   We had a great trip and really enjoyed the history, nature, and foods. Best day was our whale-watching (11 humpbacks feeding around us for almost an hour) and several others including a sperm whale. Then a couple extra sightings off the beaches a few days later.

We also were able to check-off our “G bucket list” two casinos by making Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods. First, thanks to all of you who responded to my query about the two casinos. Our last two nights (Mystic) we headed to the casinos.

Mohegan Sun - Wow! We got free buffets as new players. Not real impressed by the buffet quality but we didn’t go hungry. We made it a point to play each of the casinos. We finally settled on Casino of the Wind and I got a chance to play a Triple Spin machine. I had a great run catching 3 Royals on one hand by holding 3-Royal and throwing away a four card straight on JOB. Later caught AWAK twice on DDl Dbl Bonus. You definitely have to check the individual machines. 9/6 JOB next to 8/5 JOB sounds like our Isle machines.

Foxwoods – Very impressive and BIG! OK, one poster said don’t try it without GPS. We would still be in the “woods” if we hadn’t had my phone GPS. We did the buffet and enjoyed it. We went to each of the casinos but were disappointed by the pay tables. We were down until I started playing $VP and held 2 Queens and caught Q/wAce on S Dbl Dbl which brought us back up. Decided to head back to Mohegan Sun were we finished up the night.

For someone with bad knees the walking was a real pain but if we played in the area frequently, we’d settle on one of two casinos and park/play. Overall the selection of machines was impressive, the pay returns not so impressive unless you located the right machines. But, we had a great time and enjoyed the opportunity to play these incredible places. Well worth the effort to play them both.

BTW: Cherry trees in bloom are beautiful!!!

Larry, sorry I missed you at Mohegan. I don't view the forum every day, so I missed your original request for advice about Foxwoods and Mohegan. Mohegan is my home base and I was probably there when you were. Glad you enjoyed your visit to Ct and Mass. The VP machines have been tight for the last 2 years even on the Full pay machines. If anyone comes again and needs help getting around, Mohegan offers free wheel chairs if needed and you can rent a really nice scooter for 30 points for the entire day. I can't find full pay machines at Foxwoods at the quarter level or smaller, but at Mohegan, you pay the penalty of earning no points on the full pay machines. That is not such a big deal anymore, since you have to cycle through over 400 dollars to earn just one point on the other non full pay vp machines. When they opened, it was only 80 dollars cycled to earn 1 point. Won't see those days again....good luck and health to all...

olds,
Sorry we didn't have a chance to meet. That would have been really fun. We really loved Mohegan Sun's play. Since we were quick visitors the 400/1 didn't bother us but, I can really understand if we were regulars. Both MS/FW were really beautiful and really nice. I'm so glad we made both of them and checked them off our list.

BTW: To you, Sam and others in NE, we enjoyed the beauty of the area (esp. the cherry trees in bloom), the people and the different fresh seafood. On the Gulf Coast we have constant fresh seafood but can't match the Clam Chowder. Of course my Southern ears had a hard time understanding the strange dialect up there!

Sweet C and I also apologize to all the other drivers who had to deal with us stopping to take pictures of NE town signs "....founded ....200+ years ago" and our driving. We're missed our 8-14 lane/75 MPH Texas highways. I almost had to let Sweet C drive the Cape Cod Hwy 6 in the "single lane-don't pass areas"
