Back from Taj and what a trip!

Post by njmike37 »

Hello all,

Just got back from Taj as my parents have now gone back to PA.  It was a very profitable trip this time!  In fact, this was the best trip I have ever had.

I'm going to keep this post brief as I am very very tired, but I will elaborate more about my trip and create a full trip report as a reply to this post later on.

To keep it short, I ended up hitting 3 taxable jackpots (2 on video poker and one on slots) and came home with over 10 times what I went with!

...all the details in my next post.

OK, now the details...

Yes bigboy, I was pretty much catatonic after leaving the casino because I couldn't believe that I actually came out that ahead.

Day 1:

We got there around noon on Monday, checked in, then got something to eat before we started playing.  I played mostly slots this day.  I was doing pretty well on the penny slots (Blues Brothers, Kahuna Kash, Jade Monkey, etc..) and was up about $200 after the 1st few hours.  I started walking towards the smoking section near the poker room and I remembered a slot machine that I have seen locked up several times in the past.  It is a $1 Ten Times Pay machine on the end of the row near the asian pit.  I put in a C-Note and started playing.  I was down to $42, and then came up Red 7, Red 7, 10 times pay.  I had just hit for $1600!  I couldn't believe it!  After that, I played some poker in the poker room, won about $150 after playing for about 3 hours, we ate dinner, and then I went to bed.

Day 2:

This was the day I wanted to start my sessions of video poker.  I started off playing some single line 25-cent games (Joker Poker, DDB, Triple Bonus) I played Joker Poker 1st.  I really wasn't doing great on Joker, but I wasn't doing bad either.  I would lose about $100, then hit a str8 flush for $125.. then I would lose another $100, hit a str8 flush.  I was actually ahead about $100 after playing for 3 hours just from hitting several str8 flushes.  I was playing the Joker Poker progressive, and it was up to $1,124.  I got dealt 3 queens, hit draw and up came the Joker and the other queen for a $1124 hit!  This trip was certainly starting off in the right direction!!

I switched to DDB, hit a few quads, but after a few hours, I was down in this game.  I got dealt 4 to a royal several times and also 3 aces several times, but never connected on either..

After a nice dinner at Safari Steakhouse, I proceeded to go to the Nickel Oasis and play some Joker Poker Spin Poker.  I was getting killed in this game, dropping 5 twenties within about 30 minutes.  I wasn't going to keep playing, but my mother had never played this game before, and she came over at the machine next to me to play.  I decided to keep playing just for a bit while she was there.  I was paying attention to what she was holding as she doesn't know very good strategy for Joker Poker, and I would look back and forth between my machine and hers.  I hit deal, looked over at what she was holding to help her out, looked back at my machine, and got a huge shock..  It had dealt me 5 jacks!!!  It wasn't the progressive (you need 5 aces dealt for that..) but it was still an $1800 hit!!

After we headed up to our room, both my parents and my fiance were a little shocked at how well I was doing, and so was I.. LOL  My fiance was down a few hundred (not too bad for 2 days of straight playing..) so I ended up giving her some money for our STP session we planned for Wednesday..

Day 3:

Day 3 was mostly an eating, shopping, and a "go around town" day.  We met some friends that my parents know, went to the Pier at Caesar's, and mostly just did all the non-gambling things we could for most of the day.  We got back to Taj around 5 PM and ate at the buffet.  Now it was time for our "last hoorah" at gambling.  We checked our money.. I was up, my mother was up a little, my fiance was even now since I gave her some money, and my dad was down a few hundred.  My parents went to play some penny slots and my fiance and I went to play the Super Times Pay machines.

We went to the ones in the smoking section by the poker room playing 25-cent denomination.  My fiance was doing horrible, losing her entire bankroll for the session within about 2 hours.  She told me to stick around and win her money back (kinda reminded me of National Lampoon's Vegas Vacation at the end of the movie where Chevy Chase's wife gets that $2 out of her stockings and says "Clark, win our money back." LOL)

She went back to play some penny slots with my parents.  Now, I was not doing that great myself, losing quite a bit of what I had won the day before, but I started to hit a few things after she had left.  I hit quad aces on DDB and a few straight flushes on Joker Poker (no multiplier)

Then my hand came up.. the one I'll never forget.  I was playing Joker Poker at the time, and the multiplier came up at 8X.  It was positioned at the 4th card and as it was coming up, I thought it was going to be another crap hand as the 1st 3 cards were  7, K, 2 all different suits.  Then the last 2 cards were revealed.. 7, Joker.  Sweet, trip sevens dealt to me on an 8X multiplier.  I was playing 5-handed, so I was hoping for at least a boat or a quad.  I hit draw and the 1st 3 hands were nothing.. then on the 4th hand I saw the following.. 7, 7!  I had just hit a jackpot on 8X!  The machine locked up, and when I looked at the amount, it was $8080 (an extra $80 for the 4 3oak I had.)  I asked the attendant to watch my machine while I found my parents and my fiance so they could see it.  I tipped her in advance, so she certainly didn't mind waiting for a few minutes.  I brought them back to see it, and we were all in shock.  This was the most I have ever won in a casino.  I stopped playing after that, as I was too shaky.. LOL

All in all, my parents pretty much left even.  My mother won a little, my dad lost a little.  My fiance was down about $500, and I was up about $10000.  I couldn't believe how much I walked away with after being there 3 days.  This is certainly a trip I will never forget, nor will I think I will repeat.

Thanks to all!    I'm still dumbfounded just thinking about this trip, and I'm going to try my hardest to not gamble for awhile until my emotions calm down.  I've done it before.. hit something big, got cocky about it thinking I'll keep winning, and then lose what I won.. I'm not gonna do that this time.

I almost forgot one thing.. I checked today and my mother got $312 cashback (which is matched and given to me as well for referring them) and that isn't even my cashback that my fiance and I have earned.  I should be picking up at least $700 or so in a few days, so I'll have to add that to my winnings.

Barb,

The Spin Poker progressive wasn't very high.  It had just been hit the night before over at Tropicana, so it was only at about $31,000.  I'm not sure what it resets at, but I think it's either $20,000 or $25,000.  I do know that it goes up real quick since it's connected to all the casinos in AC.

Oh and by the way, I nearly did flip when I did see what I won.  I thought it was a dream! LOL

I did go over tonight to Taj for a slot tournament I got invited to.. you probably got the invite as well, the $55,000 VIP tourney.  I did horrible in that, so I just went to the noodle bar to get something to eat and came home.  No gambling for me today..

I made sure to leave a jackpot on there for you for next week.  I told the machine to give you a 10X multiplier and deal you a royal or a 5oak!   Hopefully it'll listen! LOL
