One Card Royal

Post by rascal »

I have had many Royals over the years, most from 3 cards, some from 4, a few from 2, and two were dealt Royals. (This is just from single deck games --- I am not including Royals from multis, which have come from 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 cards held.) But never a 1 card Royal on single deck in all these years.

Last night, for the first time ever, I pulled a 1 Card Royal on Single Deck $2 denom. Strange feeling to sit there looking at a sequence you've never had before after all these hands over all these years. Hopefully, this is the first of many. I will take Royals however I can get them, but 0 and 1 card Royals seem to be especially gratifying.

I've had 2 one card royals over the years. One playing a BP progressive in Reno holding the Jack of spades and the other playing a DB progressive in Indiana holding the King of hearts. Never had one on the draw but have had many dealt to me (3 in the last 3 months). It's interesting that I can recall both of the one card royals but not all of my dealt royals (although I'll never forget the dealt sequential royal). Now if only I could hit one this year holding 4 cards ...

The best day that i ever had started with the only 1 card royal that i have gotten. I'm overdue for another day like that.

I hate you.
-Just kidding. Seriously though, were those 3 all at the same casino?

You mentioned a junk hand (no cards held) Royal on multis - anyone ever hit one on single line?  Never done it myself, but I see it done once every couple of years.

My own favorite Royal story happened about two years ago.  After a few hours of $.25 and $.50 play on single line I decided to try some $1 play.  On my first hand I was dealt a Royal.  About a half hour later I held a King of Clubs, and bah-dah-bing - another $1 Royal.  Efficient - two Royals and I only needed to hold one card.

That's a .5 card per Royal efficiency rating, good enough to make you a starter in the Majors....

Wish it happened more often (grumping).  Congratulations on losing your 1 card cherry .  I once got a sequential Royal that way - dealt the Ace of Spades as the leftmost card.  Wasn't at a place that paid extra, though (more grumping).

I wouldn't be worried about denom. Play whatever you want. Didn't I read once that Bill Gates played a lot of $2 BJ (or somethng like that) a few years back?

My RF drought has ended but I'm not really catching up. I've had 8 RFs this year in over 520K hands. I'm now at 189 misses on 4RF holds and counting. Fortunately, my wife hit one yesterday to end our combined miss streak at over 300. I shake my head when I think about having 3 dealt to my yet I can't hit a lousy single card draw.

I did have a bit of good fortune myself today. I was around $1000 down went I hit a $1000 Wild RF (playing OEJs) and while waiting for a handpay I hit a $500 Straight Flush on the machine next door. Ended up ahead for the trip after being behind almost the entire time.
