Sahara Las Vegas??

Post by JolsonFan »

Hi Gang,
I'm travelling to Nevada in late July and will be spending a few nights at the Sahara.  I e-mailed the casino manager and he said they have many varieties of Jacks of Better and Deuces Wild games and more.  Has anyone been there recently and what was your experience?  Thanks and good luck.   Paul

Jolson, get in a cab and head to a Stations Casino for Optimum games. The Red Rock, about 6 miles west will quench your thirst in all departments. Personally, I'm not a mid-strip fan. MOF, I not a fan of the Strip period.

Within walking distance you'll find the LV Hilton, Stratosphere and Circus Circus that have better games. What denoms do you play and what games do you prefer?

Personally, I like Aces and Eights at Circus Circus. If you don't know the game it is a variation on Bonus Poker and a standard JOB strategy works great. This game has progressives on the RF and Sequential RF (the one upstairs was around $35K the last time I played). The expected return is usually over 100%. I think there are 3 separate banks and another one next door at Slots-A-Fun (they also have JOB).

For FPDW the closest is probably downtown or at Palace Station. Both pretty long walks. The Frontier has a FPDW progressive.  Here's a link to help you out.

The Frontier won't be there when Jolson Fan visits.

I visited Sahara for the very first time on my trip a few weeks ago -- I wasn't terribly impressed with the place -- at all.  VP wasn't that great, and neither was the atmosphere.  I'd take your gaming business elsewhere, but that's just me.

From the Sahara, you could always just catch a bus to Downtown.  Cheap, and CAN be an adventure in itself!I like to visit Sahara myself.  Not for the gaming though they do have acceptable if not fantastic Blackjack at low limits.  I just like the "old school" look of the place.

Thanks guys for the advice.  I too am staying at the Sahara for the nostalgia.  It is one of the last 50's era casino's left.  The Rat Pack days.

Yes, go to the Station casinos. The first one closest to the Sahara is the Palace Station. Their Optimum games are near slot machinge tournament area which is past the table games almost to the end of the casino.
