Alaska Cruise Video Poker

Post by FloridaPhil »

The wife and I are about 1/2 way through a two week Princess Cruise to Alaska.  So far, we have been on land. The rest of the trip is on a cruise ship.  I haven't played VP for about three weeks and I'm getting withdrawal symptoms .  I'm hoping they have Video Poker in the casino.  I'm not expecting the odds to be very good.  I'm used to crappy odds in Florida, so I'm kind of curious about what I may find.  I'll let you know...

Phil, I made the dreadful mistake of taking a gambling cruise while we were in Daytona Beach. It was 4 hours of seasick misery I had never experienced. Between my face being constantly attached to a bag, I was dealt a royal. The man next to me, in between big bites of his cheese pizza, was expressing his amazement. I think I looked at it, but i would never, never, never take that trip again. I would like to take a much larger ship to Alaska, but only if you could feel no movement.

Oh cook, I believe I was on that same sick cruise. Did I step over YOU laying on the deck? On the up side, no problem getting to play on the machines of choice. Many chose not to cruise that day due to adverse weather reports. Many others were no longer interested/capable in/of playing VP in an upright position.

Yes, Marie, I possibly think that might have been me lying prone on the floor begging for this trip from hell to be over. I also noticed the poker tables were holding 4 or 5 people, groaning and turning the worst shades of green possible. We were just off the coast a few miles, and for a second, I thought of abandoning ship as nothing could be worse than how I was feeling at that very moment.

S S cook, we are supposed to remember the GOOD times! On yet another brief cruise from Daytona, the ship was really rocking. It was all we could do to remain upright, hanging on to anything that would help keep us stable. Two Hawaiian hula dancers pulled my husband and another guy from the audience to teach them that lovely dance. What a great (read hysterical!) video that would have made. Use your imagination! My husband was the one with the worried expression and PALE FACE! (NOTHING ETHNIC INTENDED!) I would have fallen down, for sure!Enjoy your cruise, Phil! You will most likely not notice rough waters on a big ship like yours! I repeat: I believe it is written in the fine print: Limit of one royal per couple on cruise ships! Our first cruise was a wonderful ten day Panama Canal cruise. I wished to avoid being sea sick for up to ten days. I purchased wrist bands w a small button on each,  from a drug store for under $10. (Just like in casinos, a fool and her money are soon parted!) As it turned out, I did not need them at all but they helped me to a positive frame of mind. Only one night it felt like the ship would turn upside down. Check out suggestions on the net to avoid sea sickness. Dramamine, motion sickness pills, charcoal and ginger are a few.

One important fact about Dramamine..there are time release capsules and the regular one. If you take the time release, DO NOT later take the regular ones! I took the time release and it did not work, so the regular one came next. Someone told me not to do it, but it was out of dire necessity I was willing to try anything. They were right. The only cruise we went on was on the Monarch of the Seas, Royal Carribbean. It was going pretty well until we went right into the tail end of a hurricane. The glass elevator in the atrium was the only place that wasnt rocking and rolling. There was a herd of us going up and down for hours. I finally felt good enough to go up to the night club. The chairs were on rollers, and 2 people rolled right out the door. Enough..back to the elevator. I guess I am just not a cruiser. Phil, give us postings on the cruise.

Cook & marie, I sure this wasn't fun for you guys but, when I got to the part where Cook was willing to abandon ship, I lost it.
