getting same cards on draw
One of the things that really bugs me is getting the same, exact cards back on a given draw of v.p. I've got pretty good short-term memory, so I can speak to this accuractely. But, one of my all time pet peeves came back to bite me again. That is a RAZGU(throw all five cards away) resulting in the same value cards that I threw away from the original draw coming right back. I've done this throwing away 4 cards too! That really, really bugs me to no end!---CWA---

If you throw away the five of spades, there is no way the five of spades should re-appear on the draw. If it does, call an attendant over immediately as your machine is malfunctioning. They can look back in the history of the machine to see what cards were dealt and drawn.
More likely than not, you've been throwing away the five of spades and drawing the five of clubs.
If you're always getting the same value cards back when you throw away a hand, it smells to me like you're playing a class II (bingo) game that is masking itself as being a video poker game. What casino in what state are you playing at?

I wanted to add to what you said about checking the machine history. The regs in each state have a section on this, and the wording varies some by state, but they all have the same meaning. Here in CO, the VP machines are required to maintain a complete play history for the previous five hands, including (but not limited to) the cards that were dealt and drawn. My point being that other info is kept as well - denomination being played (multi-denom machines), credits bet, credits won, possibly game type (on multi-game machines), for resolving different types of disputes.
The machines are also required to perform a self-check EVERY HAND (!) good enough to catch 99.9% of possible program failures. That includes testing for different types of RNG problems.
I've never asked a casino to check a machine, so I don't know how big a deal it is to do that.

I suspect Chuck probably meant getting other cards of the same value in a different suit. This no longer irritates me as I've found it happens no more often than it should. There are even times I'm pulling for this to happen. While playing OEJs throwing away straights when holding 4 cards to a premium hand is a common occurance.

The meaning of my original rant is, yes, same value cards not same exact cards. But to throw away 5 cards and get the same 5 value cards back is just noting short of astounding ! I wonder what the odds of throwing away a dealt flush or straight and drawing to a flush or straight would be ?---CWA---

The thing that kills me is that about a third of the time, the first card dealt on a hand will be the exact card that i needed on the draw of the previous hand.

Or, instead of the first card, it's in the exact position that was open, or it is the first card up on your next draw.
I should find something better to do with my mind ...

-OR- Whining to the player next to you about not getting that fourth ace, or fifth card to the Royal, and seeing the card you want come up on the hand they're playing. Makes you wish you could reach over, peel the card you want off their screen and slap it on your own.

Let me throw in my rant on 3oak not converting to 4oak! There should be a rule that the number of 3oak converting to 4oak is in direct relationship to your bankroll or credits in the machine! That is as one goes down ,bankroll! credits!, the other goes up!

One time that I went to Taj to play VP I was playing triple play DDB Super Times Pay and I had the most interesting draw. I was dealt 4 to a flush (too bad not a royal..) in spades, and on the draw I ended up getting the 10 of spades on all 3 lines. Was the most unusual draw I have ever seen..
