We are back from our trip to Atlantic City. We brought some friends who had never been to AC before. Time flew by. Before we knew it, it was Wednesday and time to pack up and go home. Following is a brief trip report.

We arrived Saturday night. We were chartered in by CET. Flight from DFW was great. The limo ride over to Caesars was less than 30 minutes. By 8 o'clock we were checking into our rooms in the Centurion tower. They gave us and our friends adjoining rooms with a nice view of the Atlantic Ocean.

Before gambling we stopped by the 7 star lounge for drinks and so my wife could play some of her favorite songs on the juke box they have there. By 10 o'clock we headed down to Caesars to gamble.

We all went in different directions. My wife went to the HL room. I found the 5 star Double Pay machines Billyjoe mentioned in a previous post. I played DDB instead of TDB. I had never played this game in a casino before. I held my own. I never drew the Royal for 60,000 credits but I did hit quite a few 4oak's and finished the night pretty close to even.

The rest of the trip flew by. We did a lot of walking. We spent Tuesday at the Marina district. Overall I liked the Boardwalk a lot better than the Marina district. We went back to the Boardwalk and decided to check out Bally's. I found some 8-5 quarter BP Triple Play progressive machines. This is where I spent the rest of my time gambling.

The game had 4 different progressives. One for each game and one in case you drew a Royal Flush on the bottom. Because of the buildup on the progressives I am sure the payback was around 100%. It was for me anyway. After several near misses on Monday I actually hit a Royal on the second game for close to $1200. This put me ahead to stay for the trip. Until then and after then I held my own. My profits did not quite make up for the losses my wife was taking in the HL room. But at least we came close.

Some observations. As like our last trip, we got a lot of mileage out of the diamond lounges. The one at Harrah's was kind of a disappointment b/c there was no view and the food was not as good. I wish they were open later. We had a hard time finding a good bar to watch the NFL games both Sunday and Monday night. We finally ended up Sunday night watching at the Toga bar and Mon. night at the sports bar on the second floor at Caesars. For some reason the beers don't taste quite as good when you have to pay $8 for them.

All in all we had a great trip. The weather was near perfect. We are already planning a return trip late
Spring of next year.

Glad you had a good time, Chatty.

I am surprised that you didn't sit in the 7Star lounge @ Caesars for the football games, unless it was really crowded.
I am glad you found those Five Star Poker machines. Obviously, a dealt RF on DoublePay would be great.

Unfortunately both the diamond and 7 star lounges closed at 8 o'clock on both Sun and Mon. We were planning on going back to watch and were both surprised and disappointed that they closed so early.

Atlantic City has the best lounges of any we have ever been to within CET. It is a shame they don't keep at least one of them open till midnight for Sun and Mon night during football season.

I guess we should have walked down the boardwalk and looked for a bar to watch the game. We waited until the last minute and had to watch at the Toga bar along with their $8 drinks. We asks for free drinks since my wife is 7 star and they said no. One of the 7 star benefits you get at many of the CET properties is free drinks at the bar.

Next time if we go during football season, we will plan ahead and find a sports bar.

I'm glad you had a good time in AC, no doubt your 7star status and your infrequent visits to AC help hide many of the faults I am always harping on, but you did see a few of them......AND you also saw many of AC's good points, its strengths which could (and should) help it recover some of its business. The fact they said NO to free drinks for a 7 star does not surprise me....they are lucky you are such a nice easy going person.   "NO" is their favorite word in most AC casino properties, especially Caesars, so it doesnt surprise me but it does annoy me.   These idiots managing the Casinos AC forget what business they are in, and quite simply, when a 7 star (or even diamond) asks for a free beer, you do NOT say "no" and then charge them 8 bucks!!!    UNBELIEVABLE!!!!   This is what 5 years of plunging revenue has done, it has made them all so penny wise and pound foolish, they attempt to stop the bleeding (and in turn save their quarterly bonuses which are based too heavily on cost control) by slashing the perks and benefits that make people want to return and GAMBLE more in the future. I am very happy though, you appreciated the wonderful weather AC has during the year, and how fun and refreshing and enjoyable the Boardwalk and the beach can be.  I will never ever understand why AC does not emphasize this more in its marketing of itself.   NOBODY else has a beach and a famous boardwalk as its feature backdrop to its casinos!

DaBurglar, we really do like Atlantic City.    Even though they charge $8 for a beer to 7-stars, at least you don't have to content with the porn-slappers and the VP was better than at either Paris or Caesars where we usually stay at in Vegas.

We also did not like the sneaky way at Caesars in AC they tried to take points from our card for room taxes. Luckily my wife keeps meticulous records and on the last day of our trip we cornered the host on duty and they agreed to add these points back to our account.

Overall, with the right management team in place, and proper marketing plan, I can see where CET has a lot of room for improvement and could make AC a preferred destination. Its more laid back than Vegas. Its cleaner than Vegas. The Diamond / 7 Star lounges are better than in Vegas. The food and entertainment is adequate though not quite as good as Vegas.

Walking and shopping and experiencing the boardwalk in Atlantic City is a million times better than the strip in Vegas. The gambling while not quite a million times better is better in my opinion. Like you said, they need to do a better job of marketing the boardwalk.

Do you have a Borgata players card ? If you don't, and if you would like to eat at the Borgata's players lounge ( The Amphoria Lounge ) The Borgata has a promotion now that will give you the upgraded Black Card when you sign up for a players card. When you sign-up for a card show your Sevan Stars  or Diamond card..The Black card will give you access to the Amphoria Lounge..The Amphoria Lounge is equivalent to the Diamond Club Lounge at Harrah's, Ceasars & Bally's. IMO it's the best players lounge in AC. The food is excellent. The hours are Sunday 11 AM untill 9 PM, Mon,Tues,Wed,Thurs. 2 PM untill 9 PM.. The Black card holder is permitted to take 1 guest in. Are your friends Diamond or 7 Stars players?  They usually allow first time upgrade players to access the lounge for free. If you sign up for a card ask the Borgata's Rep. if you can still acess the club for free for the first time. After the first time you will need $10 comp dollars per person to enter.. The Borgata's Buffet is $10 comp dollars per-person.With the black card the parking is free just like Harrah's, Ceasars.IMO the Irsh Pub isn't that great.I hope this is helpfull for you.. Good Luck , Have a great trip.

Jim, can you do this with a Signature card from Taj?
