I hope they leave the progressive triple play 8/5 Bonus Poker 25 cent machines alone.  On our trip there next spring, I am looking forward to playing them some more.

i prefer the triple poker that's to the left of that area, right across from the goldfish slot machines.i believe the payout is either 9/6 or 9/5 and you can play ddb.sorry now that i think of it depending on what entrance to the casino you're using, will be to the right of the progressive.now i just hope i didn't tell the world where i think the best poker machines in ballys are, lol.

I will post a different thread to discuss the continued dismal state of affairs in AC, but for now I will stick to the topic of this thread, namely the "renovations" and changes at AC properties. Ballys has, for the past 3 years had half the Wild West Floor blocked off, supposedly under renovation:   This used to encompass the Video Poker gambling hall, as well as the now defunct Virginia City Buffet.   They were going to turn part of it into some type of surf bar with Sammy Van Hagar but that collapsed, and since then it has remained boarded up, and the street entrance out on Pacific Avenue is shuttered as well....very disappointing. The carpet in both Ballys and Caesars needs renovation, it looks like hell so I am glad they are addressing it in Ballys.  I can testify that it is really difficult to wheel across in my wheelchair since I use my own arm power and not electric or scooters.....but on the other hand, having a tough carpet is good exercise and helps keep my upper body in good shape! Other casinos recently having renovations and changes include Tropicana, who now have a slew of eating places on their boardwalk facade and bottom floor;   and of course, Resorts, who opened the Landshark bar as well as the whole Margaritaville deal (courtesy of Mohegan Sun, who now operate Resorts-AC since assuming 50.1% ownership a year ago!   But one annoying thing about Resorts is in the middle of the casino, between the Bus entrance and the 25 hour Bar, is a huge walled off section that is supposed to be a bunch of eateries (like Dunkin Donuts and a few other fast food snack joints) but they have been STALLED on finishing this project since early this year!   It is realy a drag if you need to visit their player's club booth next door to the bus entrance, you need to circumnavigate this huge walled off section!

I think, but I am not sure, that the reason many of the AC casinos have large portions of their floor blocked off or removed, is that they have to maintain a certain ratio of hotel rooms to casino square footage or machines -- and many of them are taking floors of rooms out of commission to save costs, and therefore have to downsize their casino floors accordingly.   Note that the Taj has take out huge swaths of casino floor -- they took out all those machines by the bus terminal, all the floor space on the elevated area along the Boardwalk behind the Sultan's Palace (it was the tournament area for a while, but now it's just empty space, and if you look through the glass from the boardwalk side, there's just storage in there) and so forth. The Plaza took out that room that was over the Rainforest Cafe, and also took a lot of machines off that bridge area... That's my guess as to what's going on.

well, i am not aware either of any regulation about hotels versus casino space/machines, but it is possible in AC's case.   But I do know, if a hotel room is unoccupied and the electricity and water are not being run/used, then there is not any "cost" associated with the room, other than the floor supervisor of housekeeping and/or security doing a once-over check which takes about 10 seconds.   shuttering entire floors of rooms would seem to be really extreme, plus the fact that on weekends, AC still does manage to fill up pretty easily (especially Saturday nights) so it seems unlikely a hotel would shutter a whole floor from sunday thru thursday then bring it online for the weekends...... But then again, since it is AC we are talking about and their incompetence (except for Borgata and maybe GN) is pretty evident.....
