harrahs joliet recently replaced their entire $1 progressive bank of slant tops with a new type of machine - kind of a cross breed of a slant top and an upright. about 40 machines or so.

the slant top was my favorite. very comfortable, lots of room. easy on the eyes. the new machines are ok - somewhat awkward. the screen is more upright, buttons flat instead of on a slight angle. has the hard foam for your forearms to rest on but no real place for a drink as its perfectly flat (i dont drink but i see this being a problem with spilled drinks = sticky buttons).

i didnt have any issues with buttons yet as they appear to have just been put in - probably in the last few weeks or sooner. had that new machine smell (j/k).

of course, nobody was hitting squadoosh for the 4 hours i was there. i hit a few quads but nothing to write the forum about. the royal hit for 4200 and we left a few minutes later.

they have to pay for those machines somehow!!!   :)

I just read on the TA AC board that most if not all the VP machines were shut down this weekend at Harrahs, can anyone confirm this.

Just returned from Harrah's last night and roughly 2/3 of the VP machines were out-of-service. They were turning them up and should be fully operational by next weekend.

Was at Harrahs yesterday 10/24,the new VP change over is still in
process. Not all machines are being affected as the change is scattered
around the casino. A lot of the old machines are still up and running,
my favorite has been untouched, thank God, as I hit my 5th Royal of the
year. The 3 9/6 machines in section DD are being replaced, but are still
in the same diamond configuration. Most of the new machines are now 8/5
or 7/5, I could not find one 9/6 even in Diamond Cove.

heard from my host that caesars entertainment has sold the claridge property.don't know how that's going to work since they connected claridge and ballys.
