15% ?    wow.   usually 10% with a max between 3-6 bucks in most card rooms...

ya, you split a pot with only 2 people and you end up paying the house. if a few others were in the hand (perhaps a few people called a raise preflop) then you have a little bit in there to cover the rake. maybe someone makes it $20 to go preflop, they get 3 callers. $80 in there now less your $6 max rake, then two people with aces end up all in from there, that all in money they are splitting - but the other $24 ($12 each) is profit from the people who folded.

I only play the tournament poker. I do not like live money game poker. Too many idiots.

Even in the tournaments, I have to look at my cards and holler "Holy Crap !!!" on every hand, just so I don't show a tell..

There are tells and there are shows... "Wow" is the G-rated version of my reaction when I watched a cash game being played at that table and worked out the rake.

Well, just returned from my RCL cruise to the Bahamas. The petite suite that I had as an MGM NOIR comped guest was very nice and roomy.  Weather was poor, to say the least (wind, rain), although the day that we were in Nassau was good enough to do some walking around. We were completely washed out at RCL's island, which, unfortunately, would have been a nice bikini-watching day .

The casino, as always, kicked my butt overall. This ship, Enchantment of the Seas, had a relatively small casino, with only 6 multi-line VP machines, and 8 single-line. No TDB at all, and their DDB were 8/5 or 7/5, depending on denom. A sum total of only 3 $5 slot machines (geez). All the rain caused me to play more in the casino than I had planned, unfortunately. They are able to keep the casino open even while in port (after 7PM in Nassau), so, with the weather, what else could I do?

My casino host was really nice. She gave me several casino shirts.  They had a Hold 'Em tournament where you had to win your way to the final table. I won my qualifier, and placed 2nd at the Final Table. Not bad for someone that doesn't play cash games..

No taxes of any sort on winnings, even at slots and VP. No W2G reporting, which was nice on the few hand pays that I managed to get.

Table games were fun, and marginally profitable. Of course, the best thing is the large group of Romanian women dealers that seem to be on every cruise ship that I have been on. Lots of fun..

Off to Biloxi for a golf event next week.

Was on the Dawn last year. I recall lots of garbage, as with most NCL Casinos. Lots of 6/5 JoB, poor comps, etc. Even $5 was 7/5 JoB

About what I'd expect. It's a captive audience after all. I hold out hope of finding something like that full pay JW-K machine that was on the Vollendam oh, back five years ago...
