Vegas Hotels Hurting?

Post by OTABILL »

This summer we went to Vegas twice, our first visit in 2 1/2 years. Stayed at Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch. The rooms were first class, especially at Red Rock. They were the best either of us ever had in Vegas including a suite we had at Palazzo. Kind of interesting in that we were comped for both even though we had never stayed at either and only played only one day at each in the past.

Since then, we have received offers from a number of hotels in Vegas offering fully comped rooms or at greatly reduced rates including New Years Eve. We are not big time players to say the least (my wife is CET platinum, which will go away next year, and I am gold with a below 1000 tier credit level). Never before have either of us received offers of comped rooms in Vegas for New Years Eve. We wonder whether we are getting these offers because Vegas properties are not doing well. Would like to hear if anyone else is having a similar experience.

Las Vegas casinos are all about player development. They want you to come and stay there in the hopes that you will start to play a little more, and grow their revenue. Most hotels there, when there is not a large convention in town, have surplus rooms.
