Let's see; remember when the Las Vegas Hilton used to be called "The International"? How about the fire at MGM back in 1980 that killed 85 people?

I stayed at The Mirage right when it first opened up, I stayed at Excalibur also right after it opened and Excalibur was the first hotel that stationed security guards at the elevators and you had to show your room key in order to get into the elevators. Even when Excalibur was built it "seemed" to be so far away from all of the other casinos on the strip because it was all open space from Caesars south the Excalibur.

If you wanted to avoid strip traffic (even back in the late 80's but not like today) you could run either Koval or Industrial.

Gee the way Glenn Miller played, those were the days...

sorry i just now saw this thread, I am in AC at the moment and not in my normal posting habitat or frame of mind, I just launched a couple Vegas-related memories in that other thread in VP stories about Favorite Hands/results.....sorry.     They kinda all are -related in a way, but alas, I come here in part to just write, share, vent and learn without the structiure of real life.    Again, maybe webman can simply move my other posts here.....or link the threads, I dunno.

But I love all these REALLY REALLY old vegas stories, even before my time (which starts in 1992 right after I graduated college and started working.)

Does anyone remember what the dud rate on those Atari games was? Oops my bad, we're talking about Las Vegas and not AC. Sorry for the confusion.

That's actually pretty funny..... Of course you do realize tedlark, by giving in to your REAL nature and self and being a sarcastic snot, you no longer will be able to claim the high ground anymore nor act "the wounder innocent upstanding" poster while portraying me as the obnoxious jerk who is ruining this Video Poker forum by talking about.....gasp, shock.....VIDEO POKER in Atlantic city, a place you rarely go and have nothing useful or meaningful to say about. Next time you want to correct me on whatever my latest offending post is or the next time you feel the need to tell me (and everyone else) what's wrong with me, just remember this little self indulgence of yours here.

Actually you don't need my help in portraying yourself as the obnoxious jerk; you're doing just fine on your own.

As for me offering something meaningful to you regarding video poker in Atlantic City, I have offered something meaningful to you many times and others have too: If you are losing there DON'T PLAY THERE!!!

What a disappointment!  I clicked on this thread expecting to see some good memories about Vegas and I got DaBurglar and Tedlark's convo.   Please take the running "friendly" discussion into a more private forum. DaBurglar, I know you believe AC's casinos (at least some of them) are not playing straight and Tedlark, I know how you feel about the subject.  Can you both please drop it?  There are so many more interesting and pleasant and even funny things to discuss on this forum.   I know you are both grown-ups so please.Thank you.

The thing that I miss the most about 'old' Vegas was how your host controlled EVERYTHING for you. Today, each area of a property is it's own profit center - hotel, food, beverage, shows and casino. Your host (or often, you personally) has to navigate multiple layers of organization to get something even very simple accomplished. It can be very frustrating.
