Thx shadow.
And yeah Boopsahoy, 500 for a natural royal is just wrong. (I actually
always get a little irritated that natural straight flushes aren't
worth more than 250, they're hard to get!)
The Australian thing is crazy. Not only did it full pay for a wild
royal, it paid an extra grand, 5,000 credits. I asked a few people
about it when I got back, but no one had ever heard about any paytable
like that. I figure if yer a pro, get over to down under and start
cleanin' up, right?!
I guess someone would have to break down the payout with 5,000 on a
wild royal vs two pair or better for your money back. Meaning, is that
a favorable tradeoff, percentage wise? Seemed so to me (even
before I hit it, ha-ha). I'm not much of a number cruncher though.
Anybody know the answer to that?

In Kings or better Joker Poker the high pairs returns 14% of the overall payback and occur every 7 hands, so there is room for much larger payouts at the top of the paytable. The cycle time on the wild RF is close to 10K hands. If I assume strategy changes might drop this to 8400 hands for a bigger payout, then 8400/7 =~ 1200. This means that the RF could be 6000 credits more (1200*5) by simply removing the high pairs.
I suspect there were other paytable changes as well or you wouldn't find many pros interested in playing a game with this payback (less than 99% if only the changes were 5000 for wild royal and no payback for high pair). The standard two pair or better JP also increases the payout on full houses and straights to help make up for the high pairs. Do you remember the other paytable values???
BTW, I used winpoker to make these computations although any VP tutor would probably work too.

Nah Shadow, I don't remember the other payouts for flushes and straights. Thx for running the numbers though. It's less than 99% huh? Yep, no pro would touch that. Much less travel across the world to do it.I do remember that there was a payout bonus for certain five a kinds though. Face card five a kinds paid higher, especially Kings (which I hit once on a quarter machine.) I don't remember exactly how much though. It was a long time ago.thx, MRB

When I lived in Vegas I went into a bar with 15 machines. 10 minutes later a girl claps her hands and said "Ooh another one".
I asked the barmaid "another what?" Turns out she had hit a royal 0n 10/25c a half hour before I came in and did it again! So being up 5k, the nice lady gave all of us in the bar a 20 to gamble saying "Lucky Money,Lucky Money". I was playing but was going to pocket it when a non-gambling friend asked me if 4 dueces was a good hand...(on dueces wild). So after seeing him hit that and then 5 aces I took her twenty out and fed my machine. 6 hands later I got dealt a royal 0n 5/25c for a sweet 1k. Lucky money Indeed!

i got a rf at trumps marina 2 yrs ago, none since.people disagree, but i think the casinos have your card in record and will not let you win another, till you have your last one paid back,or 97% or so.
bob dancer puts thousands of dollars through a machine at a session of vp,we would all win a lot if we could afford that, every time we played.to me it's very lucky,or force the vp machine to win.

How would you explain back to back RFs? Or, 2 - 3 in the same day? I play at certain casinos where I am way ahead lifetime and still hit the occasional RF. However, most important ... it would be illegal. I can point you to the regulations if you're interested.

I've had a couple dealt to me. Does every machine automatically hold them for you? The first time it happened I went to hold them and hit the double up button by mistake and there I sat looking at a King. I called the slot attendant over and told her what happened and she said sorry there was nothing she could do. I then asked for a slot supervisor and explained what happened, he was a little more understanding but still basically said tough luck. I insisted on speaking with his boss and finally after about 45 min. they paid me. I think what helped was I showed them the help button on an adjacent machine and asked them to show me where it said all cards will automatically hold on a dealth Royal. After I was paid they asked me to finish the hand with no action one way or another. I picked a six, but 2 of the remaining 3 were aces and the fourth was another king.

Hey, go for it ... maybe you can be like a friend of mine who gambled off and on for 30 years. He played a little VP and had never had a RF in his life. Then, in a 3 day period, he was dealt a RF and hit two out of three on a triple play one card draw.
I once had 8 RFs over a two week period. And, of course, the horribly long dry spells as well. If you continue to play you will see just about everything.
