dealt 4 cards to the royal flush

Post by wildman49 »

My Wife and I go to the casino 2 times a week. I play video poker 8 to 10 hours per trip. I have been getting 4 to the royal off the deal at least 2 times per trip yet not hitting the 5th card. Last Sunday I had 4 times 4 to the royal not hitting. I understand 1 in 47 cards to hit is not gonna change but I need some luck! My buddy is in Reno right now and had 4 dealt to the royal 2 times not getting it. I saw the odds of getting a royal dealt is like over 600,000 but getting 4 dealt has  got to be up there to, yet it seems common. My wife gets them also and plays poker much less then I do. Does anyone out there get a lot of 4 to the royal dealt?

I am not sure what the probability it of getting dealt 4 to a royal but for me, it is the most common scenario in getting a royal flush. I have never been dealt a royal but have played a multitude of times over the 600,000 hands you mention in your post.

I have hit them after drawing only one, two, or three to a royal on many occasion. I have also never gotten one after throwing all five cards away.

I have also noticed that after getting dealt 4 to a royal, the one card you need usually gets dealt the very first card on the next hand on many occasions.

Yes we see this also the next card in the next hand seems to be the royal card you needed. I did get my first royal dealt to me new years day this year what a thrill it was for $1000. I am getting frustrated with so many 4 off the deal and not getting that 5th card. I have in the past hit the 5th but is been awhile, when you play so many hands in 8 hours as I do on single hand poker its hard not to think its my turn soon. Just wondered if others out there have this happen often.

Last time I was in Vegas is was dealt 4 to the royal 13 times in 4 hours of play. I never hit anything good off all the draws, a few flushes etc is all I got. The next day I was delt back to back to back 4 to the royal sitting at the bar and the bartender was right there to witness all 3 deals---Even he was shocked---I hit absolutely nothing on all 3! Needless to say I never hit one that trip and it was by far the most I ever saw in that few of hands. Those hands and how bad I loss that trip still sting.

Dealt 4 to a Royal is:

4*5*47/2,598,960 = 0.0003616831 = 1 in 2765.

It sounds like you are getting getting 4 to Royal appropriately for 8 to 10 hours a day.

I have probably bricked the last 100+ of my chances for what it's worth. I haven't converted a 4 to a Royal at the casino in over 3 years. Since then, I've got a dealt Royal, and made a 3 to a Royal. And on an 18 month Royalless streak of course...meh.

i have had sessions of well of 20 times being dealt 4 to a royal without getting it. it seems when they are coming out like that, they never hit.

however, 2 of my last 3 royals i believe have come after getting four on the deal - normally early in a session.

in all my years of playing - i have only been dealt a royal once (in a casino).

If you ever decide to get a dealt RF, make sure that you are playing the right game, like DoublePay...

Going 20 consecutive draws to four to the royal without hitting is nothing special. There is a 65% likelihood of that outcome. In fact, there is a 36% chance you will go the magic 47 times without connecting. In the past, I've had one streak of close to 200 consecutive whiffs.

I did hit one on a one card draw yesterday, this one after 58 consecutive misses. Another player a few machines away, playing 10 line, drew to four to the royal and hit twice.

Playing on this site, I have experienced the frustration of drawing to four to the royal on 100 play and hitting none. At the opposite end of the spectrum, playing 50 play at Harrahs Laughlin, I once drew to four to the royal and hit 5 times - you just never know what's coming!

Perhaps surprisingly, the most frequent road to the royal is not being dealt four, and drawing the fifth. It is being dealt three, and drawing the other two.

I think 6 four to a Royals is my most ever in one session. Vman is right. For most people somewhere between 2 and 4 would be about right for a long session of play.
