Best casino in Arizona for video poker?

Post by jota4992 »

I live in Tucson and am trying to figure out where the good video poker is in Arizona. I've looked at vpfree, it looks like AZ doesn't have many good games. Where are all of the smart AZ video poker players going? Any casinos have progressives that bring EV up to something reasonable?

Is it really so grim? Should I just save up for Vegas?

There are some good games around the state, but you have to look hard to find them. Mazatzal Casino in Payson has several full pay games that I've scoped out when driving through.

I often play at Fort McDowell where there are single line $1 double double bonus games with the full pay 10/6 pay table (short pay straight flush - 40 coins) which has an expected return of 99.96% before slot club cash back. There are also some good loose deuces games there as well as 9/6 triple double and double double bonus games.

Harrahs Ak-chin in Maricopa has all new machines and did add 5-play 9/6 double double bonus along with 9/6 triple double bonus in the non-smoking area. While not great, this is an improvement for Harrahs in general.

Vee Qeeva used to have 16/10 (NSUD)deuces wild, 9/7 triple double bonus and even the rare full pay triple deuces (hard game to learn perfect strategy) at the old casino. Where those machines went I would like to know, because the new casino is pretty much a video poker wasteland.

But, if you're going to drive all over Arizona from Tuscon for good video poker, you may as well keep heading north to Vegas or Laughlin.

Family's in Phoenix, so it's not too big of a deal to make it up there and get some gambling in at the same time. A gambling mom and granny doesn't hurt either.

Payson's a bit to just go gambling, but it could be fun to make a trip of it.

Fort McDowell looks like one of the better bets. Looks like some good stuff at Casino del Sol, but only if you're willing to play $1, 5-line!!

I haven't been able to explore all of the casinos in Arizona, so I figure there have to be some experienced players who know where to go.

Thanks for your suggestions, Mule!
