Anyone have this game available?

Anyone have this game available?

Post by olds442jetaway »

My new favorite game is keeping me going while the Royals stay stubborn. Double Bonus Deuces Wild. Only have a couple available at Mohegan on Multi-Strike. Have been playing mostly on one line to save capital, but it has been pretty good with the premium hands. Starts at the 5 cent level too. Just curious what other casionos offer this game and if any offer it on other than a Multi-Strike format. I like it because I hate going for inside straights on regular Deuces and also trying for full houses with 2 pair. Those seem to beat me up the most on regular Deuces Wild 15/9/4/4/ games.
With this game, you just keep the lowest pair and forget about going for straights altogether since that is an even money return if it hits. Even 3 to a straight flush with one deuce are borderline holds math wise. I have been doing much better just keeping the lone Deuce. The five Aces hits have bailed me out several times when the Deuces quads were not coming in at the time. Lots of fun. If you play all 4 lines though on the Multi-Strike with this game, the money disappears real fast if the Deuces just aren't coming in. The paytable at Mohegan Sun is 20/9/4/3/2. Not super, but not too bad at 98.61%

DBDW has a MUCH higher variance than regular DW.the fact that you've hit five aces more than average is coloring your view of the game. There will be spells where you hit less of this hand than average. And when that happens you will lose much faster than you do at DW.Rejecting a 98.9% version of DW in favor of a 98.6% version of DBDW is not something you should be doing to "save capital." Going for a high variance DBDW game rather than a mid-variance DW game is also not something to do to "save capital." High variance games are a luxury which can be very expensive. If you can afford it and you like it (like BJ and TDB), then by all means go for it. But if you're on tight capital, high variance games should be avoided. In Vegas, there are at least two casinos (Gold Coast and South Point) that offer the 99.8% version of this game.Bob

Thanks for the info. I plan to get out to South Point some day. I wish Mohegan had the 99.8 version. I realize the variance is much greater on the DBDW game, I just happen to like it more. Running 10,000- through a machine in one session which would be about my average will cost me about $110 on DW or 140 on DBDW long term. I am content with that kind of long term loss. Wish I could sit there and play 99.54% job for 9 or 10 hours straight, but I would tear out what little hair I have left. That is why myself and most of the folks here are recreational players. My cost for the day on a nickel day on the DBDW game is about 28 bucks long term and about 22 bucks for regular DW. That is partly what I meant by preserving capital. The comps like food, gas, free play, rooms, gifts etc. easily make up that difference at least for now. The casinos seem to be phasing out the better games though nationwide in favor of penny slots that allow bets of 5 dollars or more. I'm sure they make a real killing on those and people that play them don't seem to care.

On our last Video Poker road trip we found that many of the New Mexico Casinos had pulled the low denomination Deuces Wild games and replaced them with an awful paying Deuces Bonus.  I fired up my laptop in my hotel room for a strategy lesson before I tried it.  I found the game difficult and much less predictable than regular deuces.  We both hated it and drove back to Colorado that afternoon.  I guess they think people will play anything they put out there.  They were wrong in our case.

Hi FP. While the paytables on that game aren't too bad at Mohegan Sun, the variance as Bob mentioned is high. On regular Deuces, you will hit more than your bet back about every 6 hands on average. On the Bonus games, it is every 9 hands or more. Unless you hit the premium hands, it is a loser for sure unless you have many many hours to wait it out. So far at least at Mohegan Sun, I am doing better on the Bonus games though than regular Deuces. Luckily, at both Foxwoods and Mohegan, there are tons of regular Deuces games available with various paytables and denominations should you guys make your way up here in July or August. If you do, hope to see you there...Olds...Oh, if you do make it to Foxwoods, there are nickel deuces games at the 50 or 100 play option. Not many, but a few. Some in the Pequot casino near the table games and some scattered about here and there. The paytables aren't good, but you have the option on playing at a 1 cent and up rate on the same machine. I don't go to Foxwoods much since Mohegan is my home base and I like their comp system better, but I usually do well on those 100 play games when I do play them.

Olds I thought that Bob may have mentioned in the past that he taught at South Point? I can't remember but I may be interested in sitting in on one of his classes.

Olds,
I enjoyed your topic. Isle Lake Charles offers DW, DWB, and DBDW all at 98%.   I lean toward DW and DWB because of the low volatility and DWB still pays 2K for 2sw/A. Sweet C on the other hand is more partial to DBDW and can hardly stand DW (a last resort). Our other casino choice - Coushatta has only DW and BDW so I'm happy as a lark. If we're not playing a Deuce game, Sweet C leans toward TDB and DDB while I stick would prefer Bonus or JOB.

It is interesting how our individual choices impact what we play.

Certainly can't hurt. Never can have too much insight and ideas from others. Bob certainly would have more experience, skills, and stamina to wait things out than most of us. I probably won't make it out there this year due to the folks situation, but it is on the agenda at some point with Vegas and Tahoe as well. My one trip to Tahoe was a good one. We played at Harrah's.

I always get Florida Phil and Lucky Larry mixed up on which of you plays Deuces Wild most of the time and which one or both are planning trips to Ct. this summer. Either way, coffee and    .... I mean drinks and food on me if our schedules jive this summer. Good luck and health to all. The weather has finally been shaping up out here.

We booked a room at Foxwoods on July 29th. We're staying with friends on Long Island and taking the ferry over to check it out.  Should be fun!
