Well, this should really help boost AC attendance...
Fee Parking
“Welcome to Bally’s! That will be $50,please.”
While the Atlantic City Alliance was going out of its way to encourage folks to visit by holding free concerts on the beach, Caesars and Bally’s – the two casinos closest to the stage – upped their usual $5 parking fees to $50 for the Blake Shelton concert last month.
According to Caesars Entertainment, the increase in price was to discourage concertgoers from parking there so spaces would be available for Bally’s and Caesars customers

Fitch Ratings has forecast $2.5 billion in casino revenue for Atlantic City, N.J., in 2015, meaning that most of the revenue generated by the casinos that are closing will stay in the city. The ratings service also said it does not predict any casino closures next year, as well as boosts in business to Taj Mahal, Caesars and Bally's. Its overall picture of Atlantic City is bright: "Atlantic City remains one of the few places in the populous tri-state area to offer a full suite of eat, play and stay options and has by far the lowest gaming taxes," its report stated. Interesting article about Revel's closure and speculation regarding the property's future.
Last call at Atlantic City's Revel: a few bettors, $5 bottles, state cops

Summit held today to discuss Atlantic City, N.J.'s future
A plan to expand gaming beyond Atlantic City, N.J., is one of several that lawmakers and industry leaders are slated to discuss at Gov. Chris Christie's gaming summit today. About three-dozen officials will gather in a closed session to discuss the city's future, including training displaced casino workers and jointly focusing on gaming and nongaming revenue growth. Bloomberg (9/8), The Philadelphia Inquirer (9/8)

Fla. company could reopen Showboat as entertainment complex
Florida-based Latitude 360 could buy the Showboat casino from Caesars Entertainment in Atlantic City, N.J., and open it as a food and entertainment complex rather than a casino. "We feel Atlantic City is a perfect location for us," said Latitude CEO Brent Brown. "The food and beverage component there is very strong." Las Vegas Review-Journal/The Associated Press (9/5)

I would actually like to see that, from a selfish perspective. As a 7Star with CET and a NOIR with MGM, I like to have choices.

With all of the casinos except one now closed or in the process of closing at the northern end of the boardwalk it sure looks to me like CET make a very stupid move business wise shutting Showboat down. They were making money and surely would have benefited by staying open. There will be some casinos coming in to fill the vacuum whether Gary Loveman wants them to or not. He may be able to control what happens with the Showboat property but not the others. Even though I am an exclusive CET player I am hopeful that someone else will come in and fill the void. How about Borgata on the Boardwalk?

There are several minor league players who might step up given the right scenario. The company that owns Rivers Casinos in Pittsburgh and Chicago comes immediately to mind.
