Being from Philly all the casinos around me suck. Parx and Sugarhouse I'm not feeling. Haven't been to Harrah's Chester yet. The way things are going in AC I might be staying in my area in the near future.
Come to the Borgata !  I always have a good time. Occasionally I win ! ! ! !The paytables are better than PA. Casino's..

All the best in finding a new job.I agree with you that it would be preferable to shutter Ballys instead of Showboat, but the central location of Ballys makes that an impossibility.    The whole thing is just absurd....showboat was still profitable, and in AC that is saying something! They do not realize the SYNERGY that each AC hotel/casino on the boardwalk creates for all the other hotel/casinos on the boardwalk.....the foot traffic it generates in the May through October period, and how having all these dead, empty spaces on the boardwalk will KILL even more OVERALL total business!    Gahhhh!   No one is thinking about this!!!!   There will not be nearly as much "gain" for the remaining casinos as everyone is thinking, once the three casinos shutter by the end of September.   The actual business (revenue) that Trump-plaza, Showboat and Revel had will not seamlessly "shift" to the remaining properties.....there will be a lot of lost "leakage" and outright desertions by customers and players, but do not ask me how they can or will actually measure it.     It is just one big ugly mess.....

It will be easy to measure, just see what the gaming revenues do. Revenues outside of gaming revenues will suffer because of the anticipated loss of foot traffic and visitors so that will be harder to determine a truer loss.

Caesars Entertainment, the owner of the Showboat Casino Hotel, has found jobs for more than 470 casino workers after the Atlantic City, N.J., casino closed on Sunday. Caesars also owns three other casinos in Atlantic City: Caesars, Harrah's and Bally's. The Showboat, which closed after 27 years, employed around 2,000 workers. I witnessed the final days, and then the final hours of this once great and popular establishment.I will post more in a different thread about my last trip to AC (AUGUST 31 thru today, September 6), but suffice it to say, for now, the Showboat's closing really is sticking in the craw of a lot of people, mainly due to the fact that the Showboat was STILL turning a decent profit. The few employees that have been offered a position (Billyjoe pointed out roughly 21%) is paltry in the grand scheme of things. But this I can tell you:   MANY of these ex Showboat employees were present all around AC over the past week, starting on Monday (labor day) after the place closed down.   In fact, all around the boardwalk, in most of the other hotel casinos (like the Tropicana and in the TAJ) and in the city library there were former Showbaot employees, and most of them, if you were in the mood for it, were all too eager to vent their frustrations, tell their stories and provide LOTS of information on a wide range of topics.I encourage anyone who is going to AC this month to seek these people out....they are not hard to find!       I'll share some of what I talked about in my other thread later on when I write it.....
