I just returned from two days at the Hollywood Hard Rock. I didn't hit anything big this trip. I'm kind of happy about that since I have been feeling kind of guilty about the last few months winnings. My results clearly show what the Cheap Video Poker system is all about, so I thought I would post them. I played about 10,000 hands and only hit one $200 quad quece and 2 $125 Wild Royals during that entire time. My total loss was about $150 or $15 an hour. There is no way I could have played 10,000 hands of video poker at max coins for $150 without a Royal or more than one quad deuce. I read a quote from Warren Buffet the other day that I'm going to hang on my wall.
"Rule No.1 is never lose money. Rule No.2 is never forget rule number one."
Our problem is not a lack of wins, it's too much losing.
Results from the Hard Rock

For 10k hands Phil, that is a bargain. You may have earned that much in various comps or some of it back anyway. I like the quote. Get ready for a post from Bob though about your system being " worthless ". ...For me worthless is when it is no fun and costing tons of money long term no matter what the game..

If it keeps me from building up big loses and I get to keep most of my wins, what's worthless about that? I absolutely have no beef with Bob Dancer or his strategy. Actually, I admire his talent and tenacity. Given the conditions he clearly states before he will play any video poker game, it makes total sense. I'm not sure I would have the balls to risk that kind of money gambling, but it seems to work for him. As I've stated many times before, his conditions don't exist in my world so his strategy is worthless to me.
All my strategy does is allow me to be happy playing single coin quarters 80% of the time and give me a chance at a big win if I get lucky. Since I went to this strategy late last year, I turned a $600-$1,200 a month loss into a significant profit. Since I stopped the bleeding, It effectively gave me a $1,000 a month raise. I'm not trying to make money playing video poker. The fact that I have actually made money is inconsequential.
The facts are: Playing single coin reduces your loses when playing a negative expectation game and the odds of hitting a jackpot are the same on every deal. I put both of these together and it works for me.

I don't know why someone Like Mr Dancer would not actually endorse your method FloridaPhil......it is actually limiting the amount you are putting threw on a "unplayable" paytable machine. So next to not playing it, playing less threw the machine would be the next best thing.

Because Bob would tell you not to play it at all. He says that all the time here. If the machine sucks, don't play it. I'm not even sure how much actual "entertainment" Bob actually gets from video poker. Playing the game at a mathematical advantage and promoting the game is really his "job".
I'm definitely addicted to video poker, but I don't see myself scouting opportunities in Vegas and playing for hours a day as an "advantage player". Now if all opportunities for Bob to profit from VP suddenly stopped nationwide, I get the impression he would stop playing completely and work on his square dancing with Bonnie...

Actually, I think he would agree that my system works for me because it limits my exposure to negative odds. That's the whole idea. I hate losing more than I like winning assuming the chances of the former are greater than the later.

Phil my outlook on video poker is relatively straight forward: play however you feel comfortable. I play video poker for entertainment and if I manage to make a buck here or there then that makes it more fun. If I don't lose too much money then I'm cool with that too. I have nothing bad to say about players who roam up and down the isles checking the paytables but that just isn't me. I like to sit down at a game that catches my fancy and just play. If I were playing to make a living or playing to make money to help support myself then I would be better off standing at my nearest busy intersection with a tin cup in my hand walking up and down in stopped traffic.

Now if all opportunities for Bob to profit from VP suddenly stopped nationwide, I get the impression he would stop playing completely and work on his square dancing with Bonnie... now that's pretty funny...who is bonnie exactly?I respect Bob Dancer about as much as I can respect any "professional gambler", certainly as much as I respect some of the better No limit Holdem plyaers in the world like Phil Helmuth and Phil Ivey.......regardless of what tedlark might think, simply because I like to play around with his name is not proof that I "disrespect" the man. That being said, I do have a difficult time with what he seems to share regarding just what type of personality he actually is or portrays.......I may be wrong (and hope I am), but he does not come across as the nicest guy in the room. which is fine, but I have a hard time being friendly beyond common courtesy with a person who claims to "NEVER EVER TIP", or cannot show a person the error of their ways with tact and respect. Nonetheless, this does not mean we could never be friends......but I think he could (and would) grow tired of my keen observations and questions, which would run in line with what Vman has posted above. How exactly is an advantage player like Bob Dancer impacted by a influx of other similar "advantage" players, into the casino marketplace of southern Nevada? would he pack it up and move to Reno??? more importantly, if he is as good and successful as he makes himself appear, why not leverage that even more than he has thus far? If I had such a certain process/product for producing POSITIVE results via sitting on my arse in front of a computer playing a type of solitaire, such that a person could cease all other gainful endeavors in their life and continue sitting on said arse and playing said solitaire-type game, I would remove the element of uncertainty from the mix and do nothing but show and sell to other people 24/7........maybe I am missing something but no biggie.....I am sure Bob Dancer will tell me what and where I am wrong in the scenario(hhhhhhs) I just painted......maybe this is why he has never (and will never) come out and say what I have been asking him to come out and say......that any true-blue serious "ADVANTAGE VIDEO POKER PLAYER", like Mr. Bob Dancer or our very own 7 star resident Mr Nice guy BILLYJOE, has to relocate to LAs Vegas in order to truly set themself up to have access to the needed level and freqeuncy of "Advantage" play opportunities. In other words, Bob's system just will not work (long term) in any other gambling market other than Nevada.....right BUB DANCER?!?!?!?

Well, I have never considered myself an "Advantage" player, but thanks for the "nice guy" moniker.
Truth be told, Bob D tainted me on the whole Advantage Player thing when I listened to one of his radio broadcasts. He advertised the broadcast as a lively discussion with a true Advantage Player, so of course, I was interested. It turned out this guy's claim to fame was that he found a machine in a casino tucked in a hallway on the way to the bathroom that, when struck a certain way, coins (old machine) would fall in the tray, unrecorded. He was able to play for hours on casino money.
Bob went on to admit that his best advantage session was finding and playing a machine where the payouts were set up incorrectly by the casino, returning an inordinately high EV.
Hardly a skill-based approach to VP.

I never knew I was a advantage player...once found a machine in Reno that would pump out too many quarters. Played that thing for 7 straight hours and had a blast. Once in awhile it would run correctly for a few pay outs then the magic would happen! Thanks for bringing that memory back
