Foxwoods vs. Mohegan Sun?

Post by FloridaPhil »

My wife and I have reservations at Foxwoods on the night on July 29th.  I see that the VP odds are better at the Mohegan Sun and that part of the Foxwoods casino will be shut down when we are there.  Should we move our reservations to the Mohegan Sun?

FP,
Is this your first time to go to Foxwoods & Mohegan Sun? We went last year for the first to both and enjoyed them both but preferred MS for the better pay tables. They are close enough to drive between. Best of luck to you and your wife.

if you have your own car, keep your foxwoods room (their rates are usually cheaper than Mohegan), but drive over to Mohegan to do some playing on the slightly better paytables.   thats the simplest way to do things. Here is another option I highly recommend to players who do NOT visit often to foxwoods and Mohegan and thus do not always get comped or reduced room rates:    Located nearby both properties in the area are several really good quality "Inns" that specialize in casino players as guests.    The Holiday Inn Express,  Hyatt, Mariott, and Ramada located in Uncassville all are extremely affordable, High QUality Inns that offer things like a free Breakfast Buffet (with really good food), nice clean rooms, pools, and most important:  CONTINUOUS SHUTTLE SERVICE TO One or Both Indian Casinos (Foxwoods & Mohegan). You can expect to pay 70 to 90 bucks a nite at a place Like the Hyatt or Holiday Inn, whereas the rooms at Foxwoods cheapest hotel, the two trees inn, usually run 140 bucks a nite MINIMUM.   The others are much more expensive.......Like I said, obviously if you qualify for comped rates then thats what you do,,,,,,but if you are just a once or twice a year visitor, this is the best option:ALSO:   The two casinos CLOSED in Foxwoods during the Summer weekdays (Monday - Thursday)  are Rainmaker, and the HARD ROCK portion in the MGM Grand @ Foxwoods casino.     Just to clarify......

Thanks for the info.  We are only staying one night, so we'll keep our reservation at Foxwoods.  We're staying in the Grand Pequot Tower and looking forward to the trip.

Interesting how the casino with the poorest vp paytables (Foxwoods) is the one shutting down a portion of their operations and Mohegan Sun with 98-99.5 games is not. Hmmmm....
