No DaBurglar I DO NOT think everyone here is stupid. I would appreciate it if you would not try and think for me though; that is way beyond your ability.

ok well I have not found too much info on this "heist" at Caesars-AC, but I only looked for a couple minutes and found two very brief articles.  Not much detail was provided, but it does appear that at 6 am, crack of dawn, two barbarians raided Rome's coffers, taking "two plastic cash boxes" full of money.I have many questions since I know this casino, and the layout, and the surrounding city street(s) and escape routes.    First off, since they escaped by car, this had to take place very close to the FRONT portion of the casino fronting PAcific Avenue.    Clearly, at 6am, the casino was in the middle of emptying the slot machines, whereby lugging the wheeled carts around full of these boxes takes place when the casino is pretty much empty, and on a Monday Morning at 6am in any AC casino, it is usually barren of customers.   So obviously the two barbarians KNEW the scene and routine, and had a plan.   This goes to show you how useless the security guards are in AC casinos.....they are NOT armed like many Vegas casinos.   This no doubt further emboldened these two barbarians who knew they would face no ARMED opposition at least until they got outside.AC casino security guards, except at the Borgata, are typically older (over 50) men and women, the ones with seniority who have not been laid off yet.   They are not very motivated, nor do they have reason to be.  In fact I would not be surprised if this turns out to have had some conspiracy or PLOT elements with security guard involvement.   Anyone else have theories????

Does anyone know how much a security guard makes per hour. I don't think it is enough to risk your life. Just ask the female security gaurd that was shot at Resorts 15 or 20 years ago.I am questioning the amount that was taken. In those boxes are cash and TITO receipts. the TITO were cash out and therefore the serial numbers on the TITO will be listed in there system as being paid out.

I doubt those security guards make much more above minimum wage per hour.

Barbarians? How about just saying thief's or robbers? One of my favorite James Garner movies was titled: "Barbarians at the gate" and it had nothing to do with robbing Atlantic City casinos.

While the PHYSICAL Fall of Rome may have been at the hands of barbarians, the ECONOMIC Fall of Rome was due to it's over-extension, not being able to pay it's bills (especially it's legions) since it could not generate sufficient income from it's citizens.

Sound familiar, President Obama?

According to Salary.Com, the median hourly wage for a security guard in Atlantic City, NJ is $15/hr.

Sound familiar, President Obama? Indeed you are correct Billyjoe, the Roman Empire essentially "rotted from within" as well as being attacked from the outside, and its economic model under the empire was not sustainable.  Remember, Rome was a REPUBLIC from its founding around 550 B.C., until JULIUS CAESAR seized power in 44 B.C. and set himself up as the supreme ruler.....this is significant because, the way Caesar seized power as a type of "emperor" was through MILITARY conquest and the riches that it yielded, and from that point on Rome required a steady stream of Conquests to keep things running (the first example of a Military Industrial complex, sort of)But as the Empire grew, and then stagnated, defending its borders became harder and harder.... NEW conquests were hard to find, thus new sources of wealth dried up.....fewer and fewer GOOD, Loyal Roman men sought out careers in the Military's Legions and thus, the empire had to recruit (and pay) Non-Roman men to serve (i.e. "barbarians")    This proved fatal, although paying the legions themselves was never really the problem (they HAD to pay the army, such as it was, or else the soldiers would just TAKE what they wanted anyway.)   The problem was WHAT the ROMANS were getting for what they paid (especially after 250 A.D)   They got illiterate, unmotivated, Rome-hating barbarians who took what they knew about Roman military tactics and turned traitor at the first chance, and used Rome's tactics against itself.    But of course, there were MANY other reasons the empire ultimately was doomed, and fell. But while I am not a fan of the current President (nor any of his predecessors except the First George H. W. bush), I must disagree with your pointing a finger at the President (the office itself, not its current occupant) as being responsible for the current mess of the USA economy, society and everything in General.....but lets focus on the economy. It is actually the US Congress (both houses but mostly the House of Reps) who is responsible for things like the collection of taxes, Government Spending, and setting-approving-balancing a so-called Budget.    Presidents can submit and suggest Budgets, specifying many things in areas like Defense and social programs, but ultimately it is the responsibility (and authority) of Congress to approve, balance and adjust the country's finances.    Presidents have Veto power over specific details of a Fiscal Year Budget (i.e. "line item Veto") but Congress can, and does override presidential Veto power if it wants to....A president (like Obama) can tell congress we need to RAISE taxes to generate more revenue for the Government to spend (or pay its bills), but Congress (currently Republican in the House of reps) tells him to go pound sand because taxes will not be raised (nor improved or overhauled or anything else that might be useful and healthy!)   Congress itself is the only one who can set, levy and collect taxes, but the president is allowed to choose his own head(s) of the IRS and Treasury, so its once a again a system of checks and balances. The dysfunction of our current government is Obama's fault, it is Congress' fault (both the house and senate, especially people like John Boehner (R), Harry Reid (D), Miss Pelosi (D), Mitch McConnel (R), and many many other members)....and it is the fault of the American People as a whole (hole)!     Right now, there is a very foul and vindictive "spirit" that permeates the atmosphere and environment.....a spirit of obstinance, selfishness and myopia that prevents people from finding common ground and producing something (ANYTHING) that represents a consensus that gives the maximum number of people SOME (but not ALL) of what they want.     These days, neither side, Demobrat or Repug lick'en, will give the other even a SMALL token of respect....it is absurd, because both sides are RIGHT, and both sides are wrong about all the same issues and all the same possible solutions.    As a country, we totally deserve whatever misery or problems or catastrophes that befall us in the coming days!
