Miss. casino heads may subsidize air travel for tourism boost
Southern Mississippi casino leaders want to subsidize a low-cost air carrier in the region to attract more tourists to the struggling market, as research has shown that those who fly spend 50% more than those who drive. "The flights bring in people who have more money to spend, not just in the casinos but everywhere else," said attorney and gaming consultant Michael Bruffey. "Not only do the casinos benefit, but so do the golf courses, restaurants and other tourism businesses." The Sun Herald (Biloxi-Gulfport, Miss.) (7/19)

Just read an article where they are closing Margaritaville in Biloxi. The article indicated it was kind of in a bad location and was not one of the bigger casinos there. Never been to Biloxi before. Would love to go if CET starts running junket flights from my area to there.

Margaritaville was a bad idea to start. Poor location, small casino, with nothing unique. Most visitors to Biloxi didn't even know that it existed.

Now that CET has decided to keep it's Biloxi casino, now called Harrah's Gulf Coast, they may start some kind of airfare offers.

Just noticed they have a flight to Biloxi from our area in mid September. Unfortunately we have plans to see Jeff Dunham at our home property Horseshoe Bossier City, La. at the same time. Well maybe we can catch the next one. So far that is the only Biloxi junket flight listed from DFW.

They are actually very nice. Free Wi-Fi, free drinks and snacks, plenty of leg room, and best of all no screaming kids. The ones we have been on hold about 100 people 2 on each side with about 25 rows. Another nice benefit is that they deliver your luggage strait to your room. And once you establish yourself as a player they do not cost you a dime. The CET junkets charge a $20 per person fee but we have been able to get that reimbursed as well. If you have never done one Rascal I strongly recommend giving it a try.

That has not been my experience with the flights from Tampa/St Pete to Gulfport/Biloxi conducted by The Beau Rivage, an MGM property. Run 5 days a week, flying Boeing 737s. It used to be run by Vision Airlines, but starting in August, it will now be handled by Sun Country Airlines.

Too bad about Margaritaville in Biloxi.  It was one of our favorites.  The VP odds were great there.  It was kind of hard to find and we would have missed it entirely if another player hadn't tipped us off.  Generally the VP odds in Biloxi stink.  The Beau Rivage will fly you there for free and comp your rooms even if you are a quarter player.  Their VP odds are really bad, but I've had some of my best days there.  The best Deuces Wild odds are at the Palace and the Island View Casino in Gulfport has quarter 9/6 jacks at the bar.  We love Biloxi, but you really need to shop around to find the best games if that matters to you.

We love the Treasure Bay casino in Biloxi. It is small but I have won there almost every time. One night I got 2 royals and aces with the kicker. Not much luck at the golden nugget or beau rivage
