Trump Plaza is still accepting reservations Beyond Labor day (september 1).....also, I received the monthly "Features mailer" for August and they mention NOTHING about shutting down......anyone else notice this or have a thought?I wonder if they are just going to pretend nothing is changed until 11 pm on August 31, and then all of a sudden just shut the place off and kick everyone out....As I recall, AC CLUB sent a letter out about 3 weeks before Zero hour......maybe someone is trying to buy the place (the Plaza) and keep it open, but it has not been publicly announced yet.....? We can hope......

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/will-atlant ... prieve/WOW That is an awesome article, and I am glad you posted it......a lot of great points contained in it, as expressed by the state legislators and assemblymen who are trying to keep the properties going for four more months. They have a great argument, but I doubt they actually have the authority. One of the biggest things I learned from that article, that i previously had no knowledge, was Caesars building a new $750 million resort in upstate New York.....UNBELIEVABLE!!!I am sorry but that is simply unconscionable, and where the article says that Caesars is "NOT acting in good faith with Atlantic City" they are totally right and correct!I mean come oN! All these years, going back to 1980, Caesars has reaped the benefits of having casinos in AC, having been granted one of the few licenses offered by the state of NJ. Now here we are in 2014......simply because business has become more challenging, Caesars has no problem giving AC the shaft while simultaneously building a new property in generally the same Market Region (or close enough anyway)???Outrageous, and I would like nothing better to have someone more influential and physically able than myself organize a "BOYCOTT CAESARS" Effort.....NATIONWIDE, not just AC.

I also did not know the trump plaza was now going to be open until September 16.....I had thought my upcoming trip to AC from August 2 thru 7 would be my last chance to say goodbye to all the people I know at the Plaza and use up any comps related to that property....now I know otherwise, so I just booked two comp nights in early September!

They wanted to keep The Plaza open until the Miss America Pagant. I'm sure the hotel is sold out since it is located next to Boardwalk Hall. AC Mayor Don Gaurdian met with a potential buy for Showboat..http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/news ... 963f4.html

CET is also investing $126M in a Conference Center at their Harrahs Marina AC property.

While you are correct about the conference hall, my last conversation with a BALLYS-CET Marketing supervisor, who I have been friends with since we first met in Las Vegas almost 15 years ago, in June of this year discussed this very topic..... we talked about what the new conference center would mean to the company and to AC as a whole. This thing has been "in the works" since early 2003, lonnnnnng before the great recession hit and fairly long before the first casinos started popping up like weeds all over Pennsylvania and elsewhere. it was initially conceived as a logical response to the threat posed by the (then) brand new property coming online in AC, THE BORGATA, which sits adjacent to Harrahs where this center will be built. Thus it cannot be argued that the "new" 126 million dollar conference center is an example of caesars acting "in good faith with Atlantic City, et al" in light of subsequent and current economic and political developments and circumstances. Still, the center does represent a positive thing for AC, but I will still "believe it when I see it"....it's not there yet, and given current circumstances, events and general "attitude" in AC and within the hierarchy of CET, it could very easily be torpedoed in a flash.

I wont be playing much there unless it gets a reprieve to remain open long past September, but I am staying a few nights comped and will be burning thru the comps I have left there at its EVO restaurant, Nathans Hot DOgs and a few other outlets I like.
