DB: I live out west and have never been to an AC casino. However, being originally from NYC, I read the papers there and will post an item I find that forum members may find of interest. BTW, the item I posted relating to casino saturation discusses not only AC but also other areas such as Ohio. I think you and others may find it of interest.

I think you and others may find it of interest.Definitely....this whole topic about casino saturation is applicable to EVERYWHERE in North America that has casinos.....all a person has to do is look up how many casinos were opened and operating BEFORE the year(s) 1998 -2000, and then look at what has transpired AFTER the year 2000, keeping in mind  the extreme and extenuating economic circumstances that casinos (and accompanying resort & shopping complexes) were conceived, planned and built during the period 2006 thru 2009......many of the casino companies and corporations that are now in deep trouble had a large amount of activity during those critical years.Take Foxwoods for example:  They were doing just fine up until 2005....they were thriving, the tribal community was prosperous and was routinely regarded as THE single most prolific example of how tribal gaming can benefit a native american community.   Then along comes MGM and their gluttonous appetite for market share, seeking to tap into the seemingly lucrative New England Gaming market that the two tribal casinos (Mohegan and Foxwoods)  apparently had a near monopoly over......Foxwoods agrees to a HUGE Mega expansion to their already HUGE complex, adding on the MGM-Foxwoods casino and resort in late 2007, right at the moment when the whole economy (and thus, the casino "industry") Tanked in the worst recession since 1929!!!!   Foxwoods, almost overnight went from a healthy thriving prosperous entity, to a debt laden struggling over-developed catastrophe.  The tribal community saw almost ALL of their benefits and income disppear and many were forced to take jobs OUTSIDE the reservation just to make ends meet!     The company still is struggling even today and it is doubtful they can rectify things anytime soon, given the oversaturation that persists and threatens to WORSEN with Massachusetts adding 3 brand new casinos in the near future!Foxwoods is but one story/example amongst a whole litany of similar stories and situations all across the country.......

Casino saturation? I thought Donald Trump was being discussed here. it is....are you saying the two topics are mutually exclusive?   Because clearly they are not.....Let's examine the Donald Trump records and legacy, in particular as it pertains to Casinos and the Gaming Business.....Trump had a MAJOR share of the AC gaming market during the greatest days of its east coast "near-monopoly" from the mid 1980s thru 2004-ish .... in 2005, with his daughter Ivanka at the helm of his primary development company, Donald Trump launched an aggressive series of real estate marketing and development efforts in several states (especially Arizona, but also including LAS VEGAS and the ill-famed TRUMP Tower that sat astride the central portion of the Strip....)When the Real estate market started to crumble in late 2006 with the beginning of the Sub-prime (i.e. Garbage Mortgages) Trumps real estate deals also started to tank.....in order to PROP up things, Trump had to sell off a lot of his AC casino holdings to remain Solvent....remember this guy has already filed for Bankruptcy)<Sorry I was interrupted and had to stop in mid-thought>To finish off the point, Trump would NOT have sold off such a HUGE portion of his AC holdings between 2007 and 2010 IF he and his advisors knew they would be worth significantly MORE in the future.    Point of fact, Trump et al KNEW as early as 2006 that AC was heading into stagnation (although it is doubtful they knew that AC was heading into the flatout DEVASTATION that hs befallen it.)     Therefore, it was actually prudent they sold out when they did....they (more like TRUMP's advisoros)  saw the coming SATURATION posed by all the Pennsylvania casinos, couple with the Delaware gaming legalization, producing the levels of Gaming Saturation we see now.And as for the TRUMP - LAS VEGAS  deal ... well, lets just say that was simply wrong place, wrong time, wrong name ....... simply due to casino OVERSATURATION....in fact I cannot even tell you anything about the Trump Vegas property, other than at one point I know they considered simply opening it up as a four star HOTEL with no gambling whatsoever. Anyone out there with first hand experience about Trump Las Vegas?????

I've always thought it would take an individual such as Donald Trump to lose money owning a casino. They might could change the name to the You're Fired Plaza and Taj Mahal...

Anyone out there with first hand experience about Trump Las Vegas?????

Not Trump in LV, but "The Donald" started a development here in Tampa several years ago. A lot of hype, inflated prices on condo units, and then he pulls out. It never got built.

Kind of Trump's MO, if you ask me.
