All good Vman, I have deep venous connections to both institutions but nothing as strong as a good friendship.

Looking forward to this weekend. Tickets to the Cubs-Cards game weren't worth it either.

Yeah Busch isn't cheap when they come to town. I went to see the Cubs once a few years ago for $30/each in the upper deck. Meh. Probably worse at Wrigley though. I should be free most of the weekend, so when you have your plans in order, just let me know.

LOL, did you go to Cornell or MIT?

When I was an undergrad at a State U of NY campus rather near Cornell I heard a parody that started, "High above Cayuga's waters, there's an awful smell..."

Speaking of James Bond......the movie, "Diamonds are Forever" has some good old Vegas scenes.

The car chase through downtown, ending up on two wheels going through the alley. A classic.

I forgot about the movie "21" edog, and it was not bad, but was not great either

Much different from the book, which is a fascinating look at the heyday of the blackjack teams and their cat-and-mouse operation against the casinos. If you're into that kind of thing there's another, later book, "Repeat Until Rich," a memoir of a minor-league blackjack team player who winds up in Gamblers Anonymous after accumulating and blowing through a roll in the high six figures. Moral: if you're undisciplined and not particularly skilled, avoid casinos...

One more: Owning Mahowny, Philip Seymour Hoffman and John Hurt in a thinly-veiled version of the case that shut down Caesar's AC for a day.

I should be free most of the weekend, so when you have your plans in order, just let me know. Speaking off topic about baseball seats and pricing......when I lived in Southern California (los angeles)  in the 1990s thru the year 2003, I frequently went to Dodger games after work.   It was awesome!Dodger stadium is one of the most natural, pristine, simple ballparks in the country.....it is a baseball purist's dream, without the over commercialized advertising and gimmicks you see everywhere else.    BAck then, the food was good and reasonably priced......the only other ballpark I have ever had a better hot dog than Dodger stadium was Fenway Park (no surprise there)! But here is the kicker.....from 1999 thru 2003  (until I moved up to the S.F. bay area) I could attend Dodger home games (any game) for $6!!!    I would show up and go to the general admission ticket booth, and purchase one of their Handicap section seats (they had about 100 total in the ball park)  and voila!   And the actual seating was on the back row of the first level so it was a very good view!    Best time of my life!  And I could bring one (1) Friend who would be given a fold up chair to place and sit next to me!   ANd he/she too could pay only $6!    Hell, it cost more to PARK ($7) than it did to get in to the ball game!!I have no idea what it is like today, since the dodgers now spend money like drunken sailors, but back then, for me as a baseball loverof the game in general i could not be happier!   And I am a Yankee fan!I only wish I was there today to watch the Dodgers, since, as a Yankee fan who grew UP in the 1980s watching my all time favorite player, Don Mattingly ("donnie baseball") play the game like it was meant to be played,  he is now managing the Dodgers, and doing a FANTASTIC job.

Brian Molony was a bright young man who went into management training at Canada's Imperial Bank of Commerce right out of college. Floating through all the bank's operations he learned its weaknesses, which he used to embezzle over $10 million to feed his gambling jones, $4.7 million of it at Caesar's Atlantic City over 14 months in 1981-82. Attempting to recover the funds, the bank and NJ Gaming Enforcement argued Caesar's should have known Molony couldn't have been gambling with his own money on a yearly salary of $10k. As part of the gaming enforcement settlement, Caesar's went dark on Saturday, November 20, 1982, and six of its employees paid $36,500 in fines.

The late Hoffman gives one of his better performances as "Dan Mahowny," a man who never seems to be having any fun even when he's sitting behind huge stacks of chips at the tables or eating his favorite meal of ribs with no sauce and Diet Coke.
