Interesting article on the first new Strip casino in five years. Hope the link works.

Nice read. A casino that is trying to get 2/3 of its revenues from food and entertainment does not sound like the type of place I will be going to any time soon. I am more interested in a decent room, comped meals, and a realistic chance of winning.

It sounds like this place is targeting its marketing towards overseas clientele and the yuppity party crowd. Be interesting to see whether they are profitable or end up being Vegas's version of Revel.

There are rumors that there will be "some" 99%+ games. Now what those are and how much they'll cost to play, I'm not sure. I'm tentatively planning to visit September 4th.

Thx for the link. I gotta check into that "Mile High Club" airplane ride that they mentioned at the end of the SquawkBox piece.

I noticed the BlackJack table pictured in the article. Take a look at the BlackJack payout at that table - another sign of how casinos are limiting their payout risks.

I saw a pic of a 3:2 table there as well. I don't expect any strip casino to be 6:5 free.

Hooray on a new casino opening in LV....However - I found the former SAHARA to actually be very small (casino games area) from it's former size.  Most of the outer edges and areas of the former casino are now occupied by 'entertainment/shopping/upscale restaurant' space...Old 'Cage' isn't even there...where the front entrance Slot club area used to be and then wrapped to the left into Cage area and then Nascar Cafe/etc...Now a wallled off area (offices?) and new Burger/sportsbar-area that opens onto Sahara blvd...  Hope they're successful.BTW - worth a peek - for those that are fond of 'Old Vegas'.Vintage postcard photos are part of the carpet design near registration area from Parking Garage...  Without 'walkway' protection, though, I can't see the owners replacing this carpet when it wears out.Photos include former lounge acts - Dean Martin, etc, and there is a James Bond/60s photo there as well....MM

For the moment, very good VP for quarters or less in the top left corner of the slot floor relative to the "porte cochere" near bazaar meats. 99.9%+ VP on the strip is nearly impossible to find, especially for nickels!

Regarding this casino,

I have read Bob Dancer's weekly column on Las Vegas Advisor today as well as hearing Gambling with an Edge Radio show episode last week in regards to big changes to the VP games due to Dancer winning $100,000 RF on a high denomination machine.

Anyone knows what changed and was it because this place was exploited by advantage players?
