Hollywood Casino Toledo

Post by WVRadar »

I'll be traveling to the Hollywood Casino in Toledo, Ohio next week.  This site lists only 27 poker machines.  The casino's website doesn't mention any video poker but does say that they have over 2000 slots.Anyone know if this number is accurate.  I figured it would be similar to the Hollywood in Columbus which has a lot more video poker machines than that.

Hi, no they have a lot of vp machines and keno. I can't tell you how many, but some at the bar, a large section located on the cashier/players club side and a few back in the rear of the casino by some of the pennyslots ( that's where the ultimate x 10 cent machines are.) Paytables are about average, lots of 8/5. They use to pay off pretty well, but have really seemed to tighten up in the last 8 months or so. It's not that large of a casino and pretty easy to get around in. Non-smoking, buffet not bad. We haven't fared to well on our last couple of visits, just a couple 4oak's each, nothing outstanding. Anyway, hope you have a good visit and let us know how you make out. kati PS I think the slots are tighter than the vp

Yes, they have a garage. The inventory of games can be found here at videopoker.com. Here is the link I hope it works
http://www.videopoker.com/gamesNearYou/ ... o+-+Toledo
In addition to the inventory listed at the link I gave you, they also have about 125 single hand machines in the areas kati mentioned. Not sure how many at the bar, cuz drinking and VP are not a good mix for me. There are also four 5$ machines in the high limit room. That is also where the only multi-strike game is located.. Also, if u like UX, 3 of the 6 are fried, and have been for a couple months. Something about needing new software.

Your welcome. Not sure when you will be here, but this month they have Swipe and Win Mondays, a slot tournament on Thursdays, and gas card giveaways on Saturdays. Make sure you get a players card , it only takes 5 minutes to sign up here. And check the rules, cuz u get an automatic entry to the Monday and Thursday deals, plus additional chances for every 500 tier points you earn on those promo days. Good Luck, I hope you enjoy your stay, and as kati said, let us know how you did.

Visited last night. My wife and I had a great time and are planning on going back today and tomorrow.

The parking garage is huge, featuring 3 levels of self parking. It probably fills up on the weekends but we were able to park a short distance to the elevators. The casino itself is located all on one floor, is very clean and although I'm a former smoker and I feel I don't have the right to complain about air quality in the casino itself, the whole casino is smoke free. I really appreciate that, the casino we normally visit has smoke-free sections of machines scattered throught the casino floor and this makes the smoke-free section kind of a joke. Kind of strange, because when The Meadows was approved for gambling the temporary casino was split into two halves, one smoke-free.

The bar located in the center of the casino is very impressive. All the TV screens are huge, almost all are tuned to a live sporting event (we'll be catching the Steelers - Ravens matchup tonight). The beer selection was decent and featured a few craft brews. One side of the bar has video poker machines while the other does not. One drawback is that although it looks huge, I imagine it might be hard to get a seat on the weekend.

I can't remember where I read it but someone reviewing the casino said that it seemed like the casino staff wasn't that knowledgable about everyday operations. I can confirm this: when we went to eat at the buffet to get the special deal offered you had to show your players club card. We had been to the Hollywood in Columbus and when we were issued our cards, the players club representative there informed us that we could use it at any Hollywood Casino in the nation, although each casino calls their card something differnt. When I presented my card to the cashier at the entrance, she stated that since she had worked there no one had ever done that. I chalked it up to the casino only being here about a year and she may have just been hired, but when she came back with the supervisor, she didn't know if you could do that either. They finally decided to just try it and when they swiped my card, it worked with no problem. That being said, I have no complaints about the staff as any employee I talked to was very friendly and service was fast. The bartenders had our beers in an instant and the server at the buffet was great, keeping our table cleared and we made each trip and giving us our drink order in record time.

The layout of the casino is almost identical to the Hollywood Casino Columbus. Even the same names are used on the restaurants: Final Cut Steak & Seafood, Take 2 Grill and Epic Buffet. We tried the buffet. The food was decent and they have a deal that's hard to pass up. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays players club members 55 and older pay only 8.99 for the regularly priced 21.99 dinner buffet.

As far as Video Poker, there are several pros and cons. The paytable for Bonus Poker was the best I've seen in a long time (8/5) but Jacks or Better was also 8/5 so there is no sense in playing J or B. All machines I checked were multi-denomination allowing you to play .25, .50, $1 or $2. Seating was comfortable and the screens of the machines are so large that I can play without my glasses. One drawback is that all the machines featured the same games and that severely limited the games I could play. I'm a recreational gambler and am there more for entertainment that to make money. Because of this, I stick to the lower volatility games so that I can play longer, which allows me to drink more beer and visit the bar to catch up on sports. Jacks or Better was eliminated because of the reason above, I hate Deuces Wild, and there was no Joker Poker. The other games were relatively volatile, so I played Bonus Poker all night. I didn't try any of the other machines available (Spin Poker, All Star Poker, Triple Play) because a quick check of their paytables showed that their return was inferior to the machines I was playing on. Jacks or Better on these machines were all 7/5 or worse. I didn't check the paytables on the few Super Times Pay and Double Super Times Pay machines available, I'll do that today. Even though I was limited to one game, there were tons of the machines I played on available and if I started getting bored the casino has the best looking servers that I've ever seen in any casino I've visited.

Funny you mention the 8/5 bonus 8/5 job thing. There are some short pay STP units nationwide set up just like that at the 6/5 level. And I have seen clueless people still play the JoB game over bonus.

Too bad they charge for booze in Ohio. 8/5 bonus at the bar is a great find in most areas.

If you make it back there I would like to know the stp and double stp games payouts at nickels and quarters.

WV, try the ribs at Take 2 or the Scene. They won the local Rib Off here the past 2 years in a row. Pretty darn good
