Any thoughts out there?I have been commenting on it for a while now, as it impacts me directly.....the city I live in, Springfield, is where the ONE (1) license awarded to western massachusetts (out of THREE total licenses for the entire state of MASS) is going in the form of MGM's $800 million property!!!!But as you know, the ANTI-casino opponents managed to get a referendum on this November's ballot to have the state vote on whether to REPEAL the entire gaming act that was originally voted on and approved way back in 2011!!!     So, depending on how the state votes AGAIN on the issue of casinos in MAssachusetts, the MGM property may never get off the ground!Me, personally, I did not vote on the first go around of this issue back in 2011 so I will not now vote on the second act.......I am completely NEUTRAL on this whole issue.     I do not think there is ANY clear cut winning side on this entire issue.    While it is obvious, in the case of Springfield and where they plan to build the actual MGM property that there will be SHORT term Benefits, the long term picture says that the casino saturation impacting the entire country will severely lessen the benefits the casino(s) will yield to the state as a whole.   And contrary to what everyone everywhere has been lead to think and believe, just having a casino (literally) in my own back yard DOES not (and will not) cause me to abandon going to Atlantic City (provided there remains anything in AC worth visiting!)I personally can think of NOTHING less appealing than playing in a casino that is just down the street from me here in Springfield!!!
