The MGM MLife Players Card Program ends it's year on Sept 30th. I have been a NOIR for several years, but according to my host in Biloxi, MGM is once again changing the requirements to gain that "invitaion only" status. Previously, sufficient play used to gain your entry. Starting in October, however, your prior year's play is a significantly diminished component of the classification criteria. MGM is now putting a higher weighting on average trip loses for entrance to NOIR. As a result, I will not be a NOIR next year, dropping to Platinum status.
In reality, given the newer criteria, it is a good thing, since my gaming losses this past year at MGM properties were manageable. As my host noted, NOIR with MGM is now becoming a bit of a "loser's status", as the casino tries to keep a player at their properties with additional perks in spite of continued, significant gaming losses.
While the NOIR perks are nice, Platinum is not far behind, and is based solely on play. I am sure that I will survive.

Better to cut losses and better yet to win than pay a fortune for comps and perks.

To me, that is such wacked out thinking to have player status based on losses. In gambling time is money. The longer you play, the more they will make in the long run. If I ran a casino, status would be based strictly on total coin in or a combination of that and how often you frequent their establishment. Especially after a big win, you want the gambler to go back asap and give that money back which for most all of us is enivitable. At least for now, that is how Mohegan Sun runs their place. I don't agree with their method of rewarding slot players more than vp players, but I guess they figure in the 99% or so supposed returns and compare that to the 90% or so returns on slots. As a result of that, my slot only playing buddy gets nearly 10 times the perks, free play, free rooms, trips, shows, etc. etc. that I get based on about the same amount of coin in for the year. The funny thing is we both run about the same losses by year end. I guess he is having a run of luck turning that 90% return into less than a 2% loss for the year. This has been going on for at least the last 5 years and as a result he is way way ahead of the game factoring in all of the free stuff.

I wonder if CET will make similar changes next year to their 7 star program?

CET 7Star, as you know, has always technically been by invitation, but it does have a specific Tier Credit hurdle, namely 150k TC this year. They still do call it an invitation only status, though, giving them the opportunity to exclude folks that, in spite of a large volume of play, they just don't want to compensate with the extra perks.

enough today.??? Seriously?? Anyhow, I can report for a couple AC properties, namely Resorts and Golden Nugget, if you are a "Winner" on any given trip of a significant amount (specifically $1,000 and up), you can be assured of getting something "extra" in the mail the following month IN ADDITION to the usual monthly offers or booklets. This has happened to me twice (once with each) but more importantly it has happened a lot more to a couple friends and a cousin of mine who also play in AC. They want a shot at getting back their money it seems.....
