I try to block out what is going on around me. On more than one occasion over the years I have had people next to me hit royals that were not playing optimum strategy . Its frustrating when this happens but being in the right place at the right time (luck) seems to be more important than skill when it comes to playing VP.

I was playing once and got a royal at the .25 level for 4,000 credits. A player next to me got a royal at the .25 level about 10 minutes later and his paid him $62.50. He asked me why and I had to "politely" explain to him the advantages of playing max coins.

I managed to hit my first Royal last week for 4,000 credits. It was three minutes after I sat down. The crazy part is I usually start off my session low rolling with two or three coins. I narrowly escaped a complete psychological breakdown.
