what do you do when ...

Post by fairwayray »

What do you do when you are sitting at a machine and have played and practiced for years and someone sits down and it is obvious they have no idea what they are doing. Holding three hearts to draw for a flush and throwing away a pair of jacks. And I have seen worse. Do you just sit there and keep quiet, give them advice or just move because it drives you crazy?

If I were playing there first I would stay. These days I will only offer advice on hand strategy if I am asked; otherwise I just bite my tongue and PRAY that the royal flush gods smile down upon me before they do the other player. If the god of quad aces is around then the same holds true for them as well.    A couple months ago I did say something to an elderly woman who was dealt trip 2's and she was getting ready to hit draw when I told her she had only held two of the three 2's. She thanked me and held the 3rd 2 and then promptly got the 4th 2 on the draw.

i don't say a word.if they don't know how to play it's not up to me to tell them how.if they ask,it's 1 thing, but if not, just bite your tongue.

I don't say a word and hope and pray they don't ask.    Sorry, but too many times someone would ask for advice then low and behold every draw....questions, questions, questions.....not much fun for me and very annoying.

I don't say anything. The way I see it is, we need the bad players. If everyone that walked into a casino played correct strategy, the casino would slash the pay tables and promotions even more than they already have ,or just reduce the number of VP machines and put more penny slots in there place.
But, when the bad player sitting next to me hits a few big hands, and I'm playing correct strategy and have been losing all day, I will sometimes move just to take a break , instead of sitting there swearing under my breath at the VP gods. lol

I carry those VP.Com cards, with your "Refer a Friend" number on them. If I see a player like that, or someone asks me "How does this work again ?", I give them a card, and tell them that they would be wise to use a free site like VP.Com rather than learning in the casino.

I've been keeping my mouth shut more lately. But if it is particularly egregious I will occasionally pipe up. If the guy next to me didn't naturally quit soon after on my Vegas trip, I was going to tell him to bet 5 coins (1 is also acceptable to mooch booze) instead of 4.

I see bad play all the time but say nothing. But I do say something when playing the .05/.25 machines and someone is playing 2 quarters and I show them the royal pay out for playing 10 nickels to 2 quarters. They change and thank me for pointing that out. I know its tough to hit a royal but i hate to see people not get the full pay for it if it hits.
