As Vman stated, sports betting is still a no go in New Jersey so it isn't "everything." As of September 20, 2014 not one cent was wagered on sports betting,LEGAL sports betting, in the state of New Jersey.

If LEGAL sports betting does go through in New Jersey no bets can be taken on teams that are located in the state.

Sorta weird about the intrastate rule.

And sports betting wouldn't save AC anyway. It's barely a blip in Nevada's total revenue. It's similar to live poker revenue, which isn't very much (1-2% of total revenue for each branch).

It's similar to live poker revenue, which isn't very much (1-2% of total revenue for each branch).well you are both correct and not so much......your number (strictly speaking) about the amount of REVENUE actually generated by sports betting is accurate, but what you fail to take into consideration, and what Nevada casinos know, is that people who are frequent sports bettors are also very much into table games (not so much slots though, but video poker might be a active segment.)    So it is the goal of these casinos (who ALL have sports books, more or less) to get people in to place sports bets and then also get them to stay and play and eat and shop and etc etc......this is how Vegas now works as opposed to all other casinos, and no doubt explains why Vegas (and even Reno) are in much better shap as a whole compared to everywhere else a casino sticks out of the ground.    Their income streams are very diverse and no longer rely heavily on slots.....but all you struggling casinos in the midwest, and down south and else where, SLOTS were (and are) the main revenue drivers....they are trying to change that but it is not easy for them since they are starting from scratch.   Vegas has so much infrastructure and historical advantage in such a case....Sports betting WOULD help AC , but you are correct in that as things stand now, it would not UNDO much of the damage that has been done.   Sports betting would have greatly helped AC if it had been implemented say 3 or 4 years ago......now, not so much.  But it would stop the bleeding, and would make AC a more attractive place for a NEW enterprise or company to set up shop in a new casino or resurrect one of the existing empty ones.edited to add:  I myself would LOVE to see sports betting, especially this time of year!    football is definitely a profitable enterprise in Vegas, and MOSt of the Sports betting revenue that they do achieve comes in the months September through January.   The only other event that approaches football revenue is of course the NCAA college basketball March Madness. And if somehow people could bet ONLINE on sports through casino websites from there own homes......I am sure THAT would amount to something worthwhile for the casinos to pursue.

I disagree DaBurglar with your thinking that sportsbook patrons spend what you say they spend. Unless they are wagering at least 5 figures a game they more likely are in the sports book as a way to earn a living.
