Leaving Atlantic City

Post by kmartin5111 »

My husband and I have been AC players for years now. We've had our good years and bad years. The last year has been dismal to say the least. Watching the town die a bit more each day is heartbreaking. I'm sure this subject has been hashed over many times on the forum. Went on vacation there at the end of July and lost every single penny we brought with us. Not even a straight flush or four of a kind could be hit by either one of us. Have another vacation starting Monday. My question to all of you Jersey players...Where to now? I don't want to leave AC, it's close to home and I love Harrah's but I really can't afford to lose each and every single time I go. Does anyone have a suggestion of what's drivable from Central Jersey? We tried the Parx a few times and wasn't impressed. What other casino's are good for Video Poker? Please help!!!

There really isn't very many good video poker options in the East. Mount Airy has full pay JOB, but only at $1 or higher. Delaware Park has it too, but only at $5 or better.

I would try a different casino in AC, since AC does have better pay tables than most nearby casinos.

kmartin, sorry about your bad luck. i can just welcome you to the club of folks who have given up on AC. it is a club that keeps expanding.  and yes, to all who keep insisting everything is on the up and up, i know that the AC casinos are as pure as the driven snow.

Didn't know if you had checked VPFree2 or not but here's the link for East Coast. Good luck.

Last year I had such good luck at the Borgata. This year it's just OK. How far are you from The Sands in Bethlehem, PA..  Are you near I-78. Just take I-78 west.I haven't been there but my friends like it.

I hit a Royal Flush five minutes after arriving in AC last week. My first in the yr I have played. Then I could not get a quad or above on any other machine, losing $90 in the subsequent three hours. A three hr quadless stretch is brutal. If your vacation was three days, your frustration must have been through the roof. AC giveth, AC taketh away.

Congrats on the royal. Did you just lose $90 of your profit from the royal or did you lose the total amount of what you got plus an additional $90?

Not meaning to derail the thread but it's not just AC that is going thru this. I live around the Tunica area and they're having the same thing happen. I also went to Cape and there was only a handful of players there, last time I was at Caruthersville there was more cars parked in the employee parking lot than there was other cars. Last time we were at Tunica we went to the Fitz which was just recently sold for pretty much pennies on the dollar and I could count the number of players. We also stopped at Ballys and we weren't even sure the place was still open because there were so few vehicles there. Harrahs in Tunica just recently shut down but I guarantee they won't be the last. I heard Sams Town laid off 3,000 people which doesn't surprise me, I can't stand that place.

CC, lost the $90 pocket money. I got a $1000 check, but had it voided hours later. I figured that since they asked for my SSN, a check would get reported. I got spooked to my bones. Then I figured that they would leave me alone as long as the hit was under $1200. A little hazy on this point. The more you stay, the more you lose. That much I know.
