More (LEGAL) Online Video Poker Info

Post by DaBurglar »

During my last trip to AC in early September, I utilized my girlfriend's laptop to access a gaming site called BOVADA....now for thos eof you who visit the other forum, wizard of odds, you know he greatly promotes and touts this site as a reliable and fair online gaming platform and service.   The video poker offered on Bovada is a plethora of 99% plus games based on the paytables displayed....in fact almost every Video Poker game offered is 99%!!!This makes me fishy however....and as such, when I played last month, and in a few prior months before that in multiple sessions (again, while I was in New Jersey),  I can tell you flat out that my play results were even WORSE......Worse than anything I had seen or achieved in Atlantic CIty over the last 5 years....statistically the results I received from Bovada playing their video poker were a total joke......I am not even sure if the gaming site has their computer set properly to process the play in a correct manner (i.e.  when I played DDB poker for example, 9/6/5 paytable,  or Double Bonus with a 9/7/5 paytable, I continuously received so many dud hands that my final dud rate after playing about 3,200 hands was 70%!!!)    And I did not receive ANY premium hands exept for one straight flush...no quads, nothing, out of 3200 hands.   lost about 390 bucks.....    I have not yet posted on Wizards site about this;   point of fact is I have not posted over there at all for some time, and I am trying to figure out the best tact to take.   He publicly touts how he will "go to bat" for anyone who has trouble with Bovada, and the two emails I sent to Bovada asking them to kindly explain to me the horrific video poker play results I received....and it is NOT just this latest 3200 sampling of hands......for two plus years I have dabbled with Bovada's Online video poker, but since some of that play was from locations and states where online gaming is not yet legal I cannot say much more about it other than it mirrored my LEGAL sessions and play recently in New Jersey. Is there not ANYONE else out there who has experience with online gaming on any of the casinos websites, or on one of the longer more established online gaming sites??????   How can I be the only one here?????

I made an error in the previous post....on Bovada's site, their Double Bonus Poker offers a 10/7/5 paytable!!!!!And yet, when you play it, 65% or more of your hands are just total crap.....dead.....duds....non-paying, non-winnable.

Some table poker pals of mine play on Bovada (formerly Bodog) but afaik they haven't tried the machine games. If they think the site is jiggered, they haven't said anything about it. Without going to the site to recheck it, their claim is that they are legal online for the U.S. as they don't use banks or credit card companies to process their transactions...

In NJ, doesn't an online gambling site need to be tied to a brick and mortar casino? Who is this Bovado tied to in AC?

If I were you, DA, I would take my concerns to that casino.

BTW, Shackleford (aka Wizard of Odds) has sold his site for a pile of cash.

Billyjoe wasn't there recently a post here on this site in a different forum telling of Michael Shackleford selling the site but staying on? I found that post to be very informational.

According to the regulations tied to internet gambling in New Jersey, you are correct billyjoe; the internet gambling providers MUST be linked with a casino operator licensed by the state of New Jersey.   I reviewed the list of brick and mortar New Jersey casinos and who they are tied to for internet gambling and Borgats is tied to Bwin. Harrahs is linked to 888, etc. I did not find anything evidencing something called Bovada being licensed to conduct legal internet gambling inside the state of New Jersey or being licensed to conduct legal internet gambling in New Jersey through a reciprocal agreement.   Point of fact; If a patron has a complaint about their internet gaming experience in the state of New Jersey or an outside entity licensed by reciprocal agreement they can file a "Internet Dispute Form" outlining their complaint and the complainer is to legally receive a response to their complaint within 5 days. This only applies to those patrons who are placing wagers through those who are legally entitiled to do internet gambling in the state of New Jersey. All others are risking their money at their own peril.   As I mentioned; Bovada is not listed among those duly licensed by the state of New Jersey to offer legal internet wagering. So this means that anyone who may be wagering money at something called Bovada has no casino outlet in the state of New Jersey to complain to so basically they are _ _it out of luck. And money for that matter.

It's all a bit, well, iffy. The Bovada site states it:

``... is operated by Meadway Leisure Limited ("Meadway") pursuant to a gaming license issued by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, located in the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawake, Canada.''

The Kahnawake Gaming Commission also licensed Ultimate Bet, but ordered that they pay players $22m in that particular online poker scandal (some players able to see all others' hole cards with the probable connivance of insiders).

Bovada is apparently a brand of Bodog, based in Antigua and Barbuda, which is occasionally harassed by US authorities but which currently relies on World Trade Organization decisions to defend its right to offer online gaming to US players.

imo if you can't wait to get to an actual casino, cardroom or bingo parlor to put your hard-earned money at risk and aren't someone with some disability that keeps you from getting to one easily, you may have bigger problems than unfavorable variance...
