Coushatta La. Changes

Post by Lucky Larry »

Coushatta Casino in Kinder, La. has removed its two Spin Poker machines from the bar area and added 4 All Star Poker machines with multiple games to its inventory. The new machines are located facing the tables in the VP area. I forgot to check the section #.

Thanks! How's Coushatta in general? I'm in Houston and looking for a "close" casino for some weekend trips.

I was just at Coushatta last Friday. Did good at the circle bar that Larry described. I like the new larger video poker machines that they have, domination's from .25 to $5.00. Hit 4-A's with a 2 kicker playing at the dollar level on DDB...I now have A 3 day trip planned over Thanksgivings to the Paragon Casino in Marksville with a Saturday night stay at Coushatta in Kinder, LA

First, welcome to the forum fellow Texan and Houston area player. Of the nearby (Houston area) casinos Coushatta offers the best VP pay tables and best selection of machines we've found in nearby La. Most VP including low denomination is 98-99% return with some full pay machines (8/5 Bonus; 9/6 DDB) on 2¢ and higher denominations multi-hand machines. Lower on single line machines. The JOB on the multi-line is an interesting 400/Quad but reduced 2 pair=1 pay table. (That's $100/quad on 25¢ VP). The comps are really quite good.

The remodeled Grand Hotel will reopen in the next few days adding about 700 extra rooms. This will help with trying to get weekend rooms. The Seven Clans Tower is equal/better than the Lake Charles casinos except upcoming Golden Nugget (opening early Dec. 14). Eating options are really good-check out the Gumbo at the Sports Bar.

Because it is an Native American casino there is no State Tax on hand pays vs. 6% on the other casinos. Thus, no need to file La. state income tax for refund. The drive is about 2 1/2-3 hours depending on the part of Houston you are in.    If you drive we prefer cutting off I-10 at Winnie and taking Hwy 73 around through Bridge City and back to I-10. Saves on the traffic headaches through Beaumont/Vidor (nice 75 MPH divided highway almost the entire way if go that way). Bus trips go over daily from the Houston area.

Best luck and looking forward to your reports.

Congratulations on the AWAKs. Since we moved to Coushatta in March we've really enjoyed it. We're headed over for two days to shelter in place from the potential rain coming this weekend.

Then two nights at the Golden Nugget on Opening Day in December. I need to hit a couple big hits to help fund our last of year trips.

Last time we went to Paragon we had a good time. Wish you the best. Post a report when you get back. We'll have to arrange a "Texas/La VP Get Together". Enjoy Thanksgiving and RF to ya!!!

Sounds like a great casino.

As a heads up I wanted to let you know that the game in particular is called "Bonus Poker Deluxe". I play it myself time to time at my local casino, I'd prefer it over DDB since all quads even out to 400 credits has a higher return than aces being 800, 2/3/4s being 400, and the rest of the 9 ranks being 250.

Yes, they have BPDlx also but with a 8/6 pay return. The JOB version has 500/Straight Flush and 400/Quad but I can't remember if FH was 9 or 8. I ran the analysis a few months ago and got 99% return. I'll try to check it again this trip.

I tried to run it on the Wizard's strategy calculator, and it immediately solved for 100/8/6 (99.07%), 100/9/5 took awhile and was 99.11%. So I'd assume it's 100/8/6. 100/9/6 unfortunately is illegal in Louisiana (100.21%).

I would still love to play that STP airport deuces with the 5600 credit royal (99.96% w/STP). You are really lucky with the 50/100 play paybacks down there!

Don't we know it. It will be interesting to see how long the party lasts. My Isle favorite "oldie goldy" 3/5 (NSUD; 9/6 JOB/8/5Bonusl 9/6 DDB) was reprogramed down. Then the STP 5600 credit deuces was dropped. Then they reduced the number of 50-100 play and spin. Bye bye Isle of Capri---> hello Coushatta.

That's a shame. I'll still play the deuces stp with the 5600 royal with "Colorado Deuces" at my local for cheap though as it's the best penny unit in St. Louis, and I love the idea of getting a 5600 credit royal.
