Phil - Unfortunately your strategy would not work for us as we play progressive DDB (all bonus hands included/max bet only) machines. Glad it works for you.

Keep in mind that my strategy was developed in an environment of 96% video poker games, no cash back and comps that are practically worthless. The closer you get to 100%, the less effective it becomes. Also, I wouldn't use my strategy to play Jacks or Better as the only good jackpot happens so infrequently (40,000 hands) that it's not mentally worth playing that long to see a single coin Royal. Deuces is another matter all together. The game is exciting even at a single coin level, the 4 deuces mini jackpot happens frequently enough to give you a decent chance at a max coin win and it tends to run in streaks which allows you to jump to the dollar level with some frequency. I have had mixed results using the cheap strategy when playing DDB. My biggest jackpot yet ($4,000 Royal) happened playing DDB when I was dealt a max coin dollar royal last spring, but the rest has been kind of dicey. DDB doesn't have the streaks so it's kind of an all or nothing experience. I now play deuces almost 100% of the time and I make my profit on the 4 deuces jackpots. I play about 1,000 hands an hour so I see one of them about every 5 hours or so.
The quarter Deuces game here has a 97 or 97.5% return Fooler Deuces (20 for wild royal, 12 for 5 of a kind, 9 or 10 for Straight Flush). I will play that for single coins if I am unable to play NSUD.
I can see the reason DDB does not work too well with the strategy, the Jacks or Better or Two Pair pays even money and the 11% chance to win more than even money bet.
DW44 has 17.5% chance or better to gain more than even money bet with Straight or better.
One fact from the website that I agree with all the games revolved.
"As a recreational player, the only way you can beat the casino when playing a negative expectation video poker game is by hitting jackpots at a significantly higher denomination than the majority of your play.
Hitting jackpots at 10% of play at higher high denomination is what allows either (1) a jackpot win that will increase the bankroll for longer future play or (2) when down it is a good comeback attempt.
Thinking about for Jacks or Better and Deuces Wild games, if I hit a 4 credit win or better, I will switch to $5 denomination until I lose once to go back to $1 in hopes for a good jolt.

Hi Phil an gang. I have combined the Phil method with my own Martingale clone method. Tonight will be the first live test where I will stick with it at least 6 hours and if it doesn't pan out, I will probably hope for a bailout hit on TDB or Double Down Stud for the remaining few hours of play.
I plan to follow your method starting in my case with 1 quarter and on a win of 4 or more jump up to a bet of 5 and stay at that level until I lose a bet. If it doesn't work the first time I go to 5 quarters, the next time I have to bet 5 or maybe the time after that, I will bet 6 quarters and stay there until I lose a bet. If that doesn't work, the next time a bet of 5 is called for I will bet 7 quarters and so forth. I will also back it down depending how the wins go at the higher level bets. Overall, I don't think it will cost too much more to play this way as a variant of your way since in either case, you may have to wait a dozen hands or more before getting that win of 4 or more times your bet allowing the higher bet on the next hand. We'll see how it goes. In case you read my post recently about the 23 consecutive dud hands while going to max bet after a win of 4, playing the Phil method, I would have made out pretty good playing the above hybrid method since on my 24th bet at max I hit 5 of a kind. I would have had a big bet and done OK using the hybrid method. Time and hopefully not too much money lots will tell. PS....I just did the math and a win of 4 or more times your bet on this game should happen once every 10 hands or so.

Good luck olds and go get them!
Max bet play is 10% of the time after 4 credit win, and 1 out of 6 times you could gain bankroll (winning twice or more your bet) before losing and going back to single coin.
Be sure to save 80 quarter credits or $20 and go to a high denom machine and play single coin.
