Re: Taj Mahal
In addition to fraud issues we only use credit cards as opposed to debit cards b/c of the cash back feature. We get anywhere between 1% and 5% back on everything we purchase with a credit card. We purchase literally everything we can with our credit cards including groceries, incidentals, and monthly recurring bills such as electric bill, phone bill, dish network, etc. We generate probably in the neighborhood of $1000 or more each year in extra income this way. We pay them in full each month so there is no downside to us for doing this.

Furthermore, my bank on this one card, B of A, has a policy to immediately call me if they notice ANY strange or even NEW activity that deviates from my usual activity is a additional layer of protection that my credit cards and AMEX do not truly have (unless the thieves do something REALLY REALLY REALLY outrageous or dumb like try to buy a new Boat or piece of equipment that runs over 5 grand!)
I have my notification level on my Gold AMEX set at $400. I get both a text and an email whenever something is charged to that card in excess of that amount.
Kinda cool to stand at the checkout counter when making a larger purchase, and have your phone 'whistle' at you as soon as the cashier hits the enter key.
It was reported today that the Taj has filed a petition with the Gaming Commission to immediately close the Chairman's Tower and to stop issuing casino credit. wow....where was it reported, if I might ask? I'm going to be there December 5 & 6 (this weekend) and if they have shuttered the Chairman Tower, I want to know because I will cancel and stay next door at Resorts!!!!
That cash back feature is certainly nice. Our favorite one was charging kid's college on that card to the tune of 120k or so. Ouch! Probably would be 200k or more today.

www.pressofatlanticcity.com%2fnews%2fbreaking%2ftaj-mahal-shuts-chairman-s-tower Gracias Senor Lark, TedWell, I am changing my December 5 reservation to Resorts, but the Saturday december 6 reservation will have to remain with Taj simply because at this late juncture I cannot book a room for anything less than 150 bucks at other AC properties! End of day Thursday December 4 we should know for certain whether Taj shutters once and for all.......it is completely absurd these two sides would even allow this to happen, let alone drag it out like this down to the friggin wire, and for what?!?!?! Why dont McDevitt and Icahan retire to a room, drop trousers and have a comely female walk in with a ruler to settle all this baloney......that would make more sense than what they are currently doing......

this is a game of big boy chicken. years ago, before globalization, and when the economy was better, the unions normally won. things have changed. if i was a betting man, i would guess that if either side blinks, it will be the union.

that comment about icahn and mcdevitt showed real class.I received a private message from Webman in which he informed me that some people had complained about this post that Doris references in her post above......he asked me to try and keep it clean. Of course, i will accept his reprimand and try to act accordingly.I apologize to any and all forum members who, for whatever reason of their own, felt offended or upset by this particular comment. I can assure everyone here, my intention was NOT to offend anyone, I wanted to simply UNDERSCORE my point that the conflict that continues to rage about the TAJ between the Union and Ownership has reached the point of absurdity and is extremely detrimental to Thousands of people who rely on the TAJ and the other casinos for their livelihood, not to mention the MANY Tens of Thousands of customers (like me) who frequent AC and are being affected by this baloney. The conflict between the Union and Ownership (as represented by Carl Icahn) has devolved (at least in part) to a contest of ego and will, where it seems the right thing to do (or the "best" course of action) for everyone is being subjected to the pointless and petty animosity that persists between the leadership of either side of the issue (i.e. between Mcdevitt and Icahn). My comment was intended to illustrate (with humor) this ongoing absurdity.....it was meant to say, essentially, they (the two leaders) are trying to claim that "their position" is better and more legit......I said they might as well just have a independent figure (i.e. the nurse) measure their private parts to see just who really is "bigger and better"......That is ALL I was trying to illustrate, I never intended or meant ANYTHING ELSE other than that. I am sure most forum members understood my point and (hopefully) got a chuckle out of it.....right Billyjoe? But again, I apologize to Doris, et al
