flashing advertisements

Post by storm4sb »

the non stop flashing ads on top and sides of game are driving me nuts!!!   most of the fun of poker is having to think about your strategy, who can focus on the game with that incessant distraction?  oddly enough I turn on a video poker site to of all things play poker, not to cure cancer or buy a phone. I have written to videopoker.com and there reply is, for only 5.00 a month they will someday have a no ad site. 60 bucks a year? Cant you just buy a CD at costco or walmart for 10 or 20? with over 69,000 of us logging in, perhaps it's a good time to buy stock. Does any one else find this a tad greedy and unfair? Am I the only one being driven elsewhere by the flashing?  This used to be a great way to relax and practice, now it's stressful and annoying.

I also find the ads very very distracting and while I am not prone to seizures, those that are can have one triggered by the constant falshing. R.N.

THAT IS THE TRUTH. I WROTE TO VIDEOPOKER.COM WHEN THIS ALL STARTED A WHILE BACK, TRYING TO EXPLAIN THIS TO THEM. I NOT ONLY GET EYE MIGRAINES,  THAT IS WHEN YOUR EYES GO ON A MINI ACID TRIP, VERY FRIGHTENING AND ALL YOU CAN DO IS REST THEM AND HOPE IT WILL PASS AGAIN. THAT IS SET OFF BY THIS KIND OF FLASHING. I ALSO RECENTLY HAD A EYE PALSY STROKE OF THE 6TH NERVE, HAD DOUBLE AND BLURRED VISION FOR OVER A MONTH AND STILL HAVE FACE NERVE DAMAGE. THESE ARE VERY SERIOUS ISSUES AND THEY OF COURSE DID NOT TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY. AT FIRST, THESE ADS WOULD JUST FLASH OFF EVERY 5 MINUTES AND NOW THEY ARE RUNNING SOME THAT NEVER STOP MOVEMENT THE ENTIRE TIME YOUR TRYING TO PLAY. THERE MUST BE A BETTER WAY. THEY NEED TO COME CLEAN ABOUT WANTING TO CHANGE FROM A FREE GAMING SITE TO ONE OF THE WEBS MOST EXPENSIVE AT 5.00 A MONTH AS A WAY TO GET RID OF THE ADS. MEANWHILE, I KNOW FOR MYSELF IT'S NOT ONLY SO ANNOYING, AS TO BE COMPLETELY UN ENJOYABLE, IT'S ALSO DANGEROUS. SOMEONE REPLIED SORRY I DON'T NOTICE THE ADS, THAT SHOULD TELL THEM, NO ONE IS GOING TO BUY ANYTHING BASED ON THEM, THEY WILL JUST TUNE THEM OUT. WISH I HAD THAT SAME LUXURY.
I'M A PLAYER, GO TO VEGAS 5 TIMES A YEAR, BEEN DIAMOND AT HARRAHS SINCE THEY BEGAN THERE TIER PROGRAM AND AM ALWAYS COMPED, NO MATTER WHERE I PLAY, SUITES, FOOD AND LIMOS. I ONLY PLAY DOLLAR AND UP VIDEO POKER. I HAVE ENJOYED TESTING OUT NEW GAMES AND HAVE TRIED THEM ONCE IN VEGAS BECAUSE I DID. THAT SHOULD BE WHAT THIS SITE IS LOOKING FOR CONCERNING SUCCESS IN PROMOTING THERE GAMES. GET RID OF THE ADS, THERE DETRIMENTAL AND NOBODY IS BUYING ANYTHING BECAUSE OF THEM.

I don't like the flashing ads. If they just did not flash it would be ok.

How does one get to test new games? I would love to do that.

As you can imagine, there are significant costs associated with building, running and maintaining a Web site like VideoPoker.com. In order to continue to provide the site free of charge to our members, we are supporting the site through third party advertising. We hope to have some great casino and travel related offers in the near future. Please support our advertisers by checking out their offers (yes, this means clicking their ad ).
We will soon be offering a premium membership level, which, among benefits like score/credit tracking and contests, will include the elimination of third party ads.
Out of curiosity, how much would you be willing to pay for a premium membership?
Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I'm just about ready to hang it up as far as this forum goes.  These
ads, especially Circuit City with graphics popping up in the "Reply"
window and moving to the banner at the top of the screen have done
nothing but irritate me.  Now, when I click in the REPLY box, A new Tab opens with Circuit City's full page rhetoric.  I'd never buy even a package of CD-Rs from
them now!  And furthermore, I REFUSE to pay for the privilege of participating without the ads.  Sorry VPman but the concept is now too
commercial.  I've seen Porn sites with fewer obnoxious ads.

I've seen the circuit city ad you're talking about and I'll see if I can have them remove that from the rotation. It interefered with one of my clicks as well as the clickable area was beyond the banner for some reason.
