Beverages Included?

Post by Charski63 »

Vegas rookie here, I will be going in the near future for 7days staying at harrahs. Just wondering......do you pay for drinks at the bars on the casino floors.....I usually go to Mohegan sun and play caveman keno at the various cocktail places on the casino floor....need to know how much $$ is needed.....thanks in advance or info.

While you are playing on the casino floor drinks are free. Just have a handfull of singles and tip the servers and that will ensure your glass never really runs empty.   Good luck ouot there.

As far as any bar having VP or Keno, just make sure the bartender sees what denomination bill you are inserting. It used to be 1 free drink for a $20 buy-in. It may be more now as I haven't been there in awhile. In the days of coin-in machines, I'd buy a rack of $100 and the bartender would alert the other bartenders behind the bar that all future drinks during your session were free.

I wasn't quite sure as how to answer the part about the bars. mammajamma is right about playing at a bar and getting free drinks; the bartenders have to see you actively playing a bartop machine. If you are just sitting there taking up space and hoping for free drinks, they won't come unless you're playing.

As most know, Mohegan Sun is pretty much the only casino I go to. I think they have caveman keno at the bars too. While only about 10% of my play is at bartops, I have never seen a bartender question denomination or keep a really close eye on how much one is playing. What does bother them though are those who say they are going to play, put in a bill, and cash out with their drink in hand then walk away without playing anything or maybe just 1 hand. Often times, those idiots don't even tip the bartender. Luckily, I have only seen a few of them in action. Most bartenders up there are really pleasant people and quite interesting to talk to. I think you will have a good time playing the bartops up there and good luck.

As others have said, they are "free" in Vegas if you are actively playing. As long you throw a $20 in and periodically play the machine, you're good. They might ask you to bet more than a quarter a pull though, but play with whatever bet you normally play until they say something. If you tip well, more likely they won't care about the "rules".

As for the bars themselves, I think their game kings have either "Caveman Keno" or "Caveman Keno Plus" available. I'm sure paytables are horrendous (probably sub 90%). They possibly may pay better on the floor, but then you'll need to depend on a waitress.

In the 1960s they would bring out a cart in the afternoon with all kinds of horderves (shrimp, meatballs, cocktail hot dogs, veggies, etc.). Anybody in the casino could go up and ask the server for whatever they wanted.
