Horseshoe Tunica?

Post by FloridaPhil »

We just received a free flight and three room stay at the Horseshoe Tunica.  Never been to Tunica.  Anything good there?

only been there once. would never go back. CET built an enormous property there, and closed it down, may tell you something. out in the middle of nowhere, not a problem if all you want do is gamble, but nothing else to do. you have stated you are playing the 'cheap' system, why would someplace offer you 2 air tickets, rooms, if they did not know they were likely to get something out of you. IMO, this is one of those dying casino destinations. i think there is another poster here, that has a lot of experience in tunica.

I used to be a max coin dollar player and had a tendency to "go on tilt" and hit the high limit slots.  I eventually wised up, but we still get a lot of offers like that.   The only thing we can figure is that we play occasionally at Harrahs in Cherokee. With the current state of the industry, I think we are going to see a lot more of these offers.   It's a myth that you can't get free stuff while playing cheap.   Outside of Vegas, if you can draw a breath and can crawl over to the machine with some money, they'll give you something if you ask for it.

I think the person you are referring whose stomping ground is Tunica is Vman.

I think from what I've seen, the Horseshoe is pretty much the airport as well, where you get off at the casino.

Needed to add, it seems like if you can casino hop, you will find cheaper options to play.

the airport is unique. a building and a runway. i believe the only planes that come in are casino junkets. like a flying brinks truck, except instead of dropping off bags of money, the plane drops of gamblers with money.

this is one of the primary culprits on the CET corporate Balance sheetthat pushed them over the edge and into brankruptcy....this property and several others were the most egregious "losers" in the CET empire (as I recall from what the Casino floor supervisor at Harrahs in AC was discussing back in November when i was there, and several of us players were talking with him and a Dealer about the state of things in the industry and with CET), and were the literal straws that broke the back so to speak.CET totally went bat turd crazy with their greed infused expansion back in the mid 2000s, it was almost like they were "pressing their luck" just as their high rollers were, doubling down on the business model that simply dictates "EXPAND EXPAND EXPAND"......And now Gary Loveman, their bland-as-cream-of-wheat former CEO, is amongst the ranks of the unemployed.     What does that tell ya....?

Well they have plenty of vp machines and they're all in pretty good shape, pay tables are about the same as every other casino in Tunica. The Horseshoe will be the center casino, on one side you have The Roadhouse and on the other Gold Strike. Wished I could say something good about Tunica but them days are long gone. As far as something to do other than the casinos you're out of luck unless you want to rent a car and go see Elvis's house, even the outlet stores are in the process of closing down, the place is dying a slow sure death and they seem to be doing their best to speed the process up.

Thanks for the input.  My wife is not really into places with nothing to do except gamble.  We're saving our money for a trip to Black Hawk in the spring.

I'm sorry to sound so negative but Tunica is no Vegas, It's a tiny little town with nothing to offer but gambling. I live near the area so I know it well, my wife is not a big gambler so she likes to go places that offer other things. I wished you could have seen Tunica in it's prime, they had the opportunity to create something special, every casino was packed and the excitement level was energetic, now the casinos are like funeral homes. On a side note Horseshoe casino will still draw a decent crowd by Tunica standards and so will Gold Strike, if you do go and it's on a weekday they have shuttles so you can visit other casinos, it will blow your mind to see how few players are in some of the casinos. I forgot to mention that if you rent a car Memphis is only about 30 minutes or so away and you could check out Beale Street if you like Blues

Next trip up to Ct. Phil, I will list all of the Outlet malls for you. If I forget some, my Mrs. will refresh my memory. That reminds me, my New Balance shoes have about had it after a hard life outside and at the casino. I passed a New Balance Outlet in Westbrook on the way up to Mohegan. Have to remind myself to stop there. I better make it on the way up and not on the way home in case it is one of those sessions.
